Wife and I are probably still months away from ours. If Labor Day comes and it’s still not on the horizon, we’ll be pissed.

I wouldn't be surprised if you get one before the end of March.  Keep an eye out for volunteer opportunities.  That's how I got mine.

I really hope as these ramp up they don't wait for more of the general population while struggling to convince those eligible to get it.... I understand trying to reach people who need help,  that's a different thing....  But if people eligible can get it but don't want to then move on to the next group.  Don't sit on vaccines trying to get the final 15% of 65+ who are being stubborn while we have 45+ aged people waiting.

Vaccinated residents in Illinois is up from 4.7% to 6.6% since last week. If it keeps going up two points a week, that would put us at about 20% by end of March. I am most definitely not in the first 20% wave.

Mazel tov to you on your getting fully vaccinated. Me, I'm a guy without connections who's just one of the masses out here, so I may not even be in the first 50% wave, which is why I'm thinking summer at the earliest. Which is fine, I can tough it out with masks and distancing until then.

The one way that could speed up is if vaccinations ramps up exponentially in the next few weeks. So far though the increase has been pretty steady. For me to get one by March the rate of increase itself would have to increase substantially. Here's hoping it does.

Done.

Seeing tracers and a long white tunnel.  I AM THE LIZARD KING!

Oh, that’s just what I wanted to hear before I get my first shot on Sunday morning ...😱

..... which, but OF COURSE, is coinciding with another predicted snow storm just around my appointment time. (But at least this one is only supposed to bring around 6”, which pales by comparison to the 23” I got earlier this week.❄️❄️)

Don’t care. I’m gonna be there for the shot, by hook or by crook. 🙂

So far so good.  I was in 'by-gum-i'm-gonna-get-this-shot-if-it-kills-me' mode too.

Oregon isn't even getting to 65+ until the very end of the month. I'll feel lucky if I don't age into an eligible group.

now it sounds like our allotment is going up by 20% and even with that, 65+ don't start until mid-March. 80+ is supposed to start Monday.

I really have no longing desire to get my shot.  I will definitely get one in time but I am perfectly content to wait my turn and let older people and those at risk get theirs first.    It’s not like I’ve got anything important to do or places to go.

I'll let you know how mine goes.  My wife and I are 75+, so we start February 15th.  We're in Yamhill County.  I expect chaos getting an appointment.

The problem is misinformation from places like Fox News and Facebook. They'll tell you the vaccine is dangerous because we don't know the long term effects. My 70 year old brother raised that concern to me. I told him he's 70 years old, how long is long term to him? 10 years? They should just use an emergency order and shut down Facebook. Grandma is getting too stressed using it as her main news source. 😄

Where did you hear that from?

I could name the dozen or so friends, family and colleagues that had significant side effects from the second shot.  But mostly the CDC form I was given lists a multitude of side effects and your chances of having them after the second shot.  Many of them were in the 50% or higher range.

My daughter-in-law is the only person in my immediate circle who has gotten dose #2.  She felt pretty rotten the next day: headache, chills, muscle aches.  But it only lasted a day or so.   Since she works remotely from home, she still put in a full day.  She recommended to the rest of the family to arrange for the #2 shot so that you have a day off following it.

A good friend of mine was out of commission for almost 2 days after her 2nd moderna. She wasn’t complaining though.  I was prepared to accept anything.  My wife works in a hospital and they staggered the doses among staff in case people couldn’t come in. She said some had fevers but no call offs required. I have no idea on what it could be.  I rarely get sick. Maybe once every 2 or 3 years.

That’s ideal as long as you can keep supply strong.  I think many places were worried that when shot #2 came along they would be left with nothing. The more confident we get about that I hope more places can do this.
