Pretty good breakdown of the projected roster here:

Projecting the Detroit Red Wings' opening night lineup, version 2.0

That's a brutal lineup. In the entire NHL that would probably be an average 1st line, the worst 2nd line, the worst 3rd line, one of the worst 4th lines, the worst defense and average goaltending tandem at best.

This is the transition year.   Guys will get hurt and you'll see some of the younggins make their way to the team.   Next year, when they have cap room for a few well-placed free agents is when we will see the beginning of the rise.

Steve said it would take some time.

Is there a possibility that they keep Seider on the big club?  That would be pretty ambitious.

I'd be shocked and I think it would be a mistake. Last year's #6 Quinn Hughes played all last year at Michigan until 5 games with the Canucks at the end.

This year's #4 Byram has been sent down to the WHL Vancouver Giants.

Maybe this is a nitpick too, but I still don't like that Patricia called two timeouts with 30 seconds to go. I know it gave the Lions a chance to get the ball back, but I think the Lions' chance to hold them to a FG would have been much greater if they had let the clock run. The Chiefs would have snapped it on 1st down with under 20 seconds to go and I think they'd only have tried two passes and then settled for a FG if they hadn't converted. I don't think the Lions would have had to worry about a running play.

Zadina and Veleno sent down.

I thought Veleno looked a lot better than Zadina in the preseason.

Pretty sure you have heard already, but on the off chance you (or anyone else) hadn't, Seider was sent to Grand Rapids.

It’s going to be another long year in Hockeytown.

The lack of any significant new youth on defense and development of a future goaltender should be concerning.   Hopefully this is just the opening roster and they will be bringing the kids up slowly throughout the season.

Different franchises in sort of the same place but the Kings have elected to keep 18 year old Swedish D Tobias Bjornfoot on the roster for at least 9 games.   He was picked 22nd in this draft and has been very solid in preseason.  Kings are going to take a different route with him than the Wings have chosen with Seider.
