If you're ever in a FSD viewing area, fire up the app and set your location.  When you go home it will ask you to reset your location, just hit deny and it will keep the FSD viewing area, or whatever area you set it at.  My dad was in Florida for a year and had FSD the entire time by doing that.

Downside is you will now have that locations local channels.  But you're allowed six different accounts.  Create a second one for the FSD area and the first one for home.  Switch back and forth depending on what you want to watch.  Not the most elegant solution, but it will work depending on how bad you want those channels.

wow - Interesting. Hard to figure they don't re-check that against the incoming IP.

I find it difficult to believe that in Toledo proper none of the 3 pull enough ratings to eliminate it completely.  But I could be wrong on that.

I still don’t understand how it is eliminated completely for anyone. That seems wrong. 43608 shouldn’t be shut out while 43460 at least gets fox sports Ohio (which it appears also has the cavs).

But I guess my point that is that for a group of Toledo residents, one may always tune in to FSD for the Detroit teams, another may tune into FSO to watch the cavs and bluejackets. Another may tune into STO for the Indians. That type of split would pale in comparison to a same size group of people in Detroit, Columbus, cincy, or Cleveland. It could be enough for YTTV to say none of these channels pull enough ratings for us to pay a carriage fee for every user in that area. That’s the problem. They pay a flat fee for every user, so carrying all three, for instance, costs them triple to keep all of their customers happy. Even paying for one only keeps one third of the people happy.

I think that’s a big reason the YES network got shut out. The population and number of customers in that broadcast area is huge. But even then, what percentage of all YTTV customers in New York watch the Yankees (and the other teams they broadcast)?

You have to be back in your home area every 2-3 months or it will default to your new location.  I would occasionally log my dad in from Michigan to reset him.

They do it for people that travel.  My gf travels a little for work and always has her local stations by just hitting the deny button.  It's a nice feature.

They are slowly rolling out the "Mark Episode as Watched" feature.  We got it two days ago I think.

Not a huge deal.  But we still have Comcast so we watch shows on both systems so it's nice to mark something watched on YTTV if we watch it on Comcast.

What is the reason for having and using both?

217.00...combined bills?

My DTE is 265.00

Cable 210.00

I just got a SUPER crazy water bill for 678.00 which I am fighting....they are going to take the meter to get tested...if it fails (original meter from like the 50's I think) they pay...if it is working fine, I get the pleasure of paying this ridiculous bill and the cost to test the meter.

I have gone through this before.  I know how to check for leaks (turn nothing on and check the meter to see if it is moving) I do this once a week or so and it is never moving.

I brought this topic up before....if "they" (the city/county whatever) give you a bill for 'x amount' what is your recourse to say "nope, that is WAAAAAY too high"?

YTTV is mostly for my dad.  He had to move into assisted living after his stroke and I'm picking up some of his bills to help out.

I mostly use cable on our TV.  But if I'm in my office I use YTTV on my computer since I don't have a TV back here.  My girlfriend travels a bit for work and prefers using YTTV when she does.

It's also nice to have when we go up north.  We'll be up there next weekend and my mom doesn't get ESPN on her package.  So I will install the YTTV app on her Roku and be able to watch the F1 qualifying and race.

Eventually I'm sure we will lose cable.

We cut the cord in December of 2017 and the first few months were a bit odd but we got used to it. Right now we have Prime and Netflix. I had subscribed to Disney Plus to watch The Mandalorian but have since cancelled it.

Basically our bill is $55 for ATT internet (I regulate the use and we don't even come close to the data cap), $15 for Netflix and we were already Prime members so any tv is just a bonus. I have an OTA antenna set up so we can watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Everyone in our family is all set with that.

I miss Tiger baseball but realistically could only view about an hour a night of any games anyway.

Just a reminder to those with OTA, you might want to rescan your sets this weekend. Most local stations will have completed their channel move

DTE is 265 now, but it will be something like 90 in June, right?     You have to average that out.   My DTE was 305 this month, but with the warm March we're having I expect it to be about 60% of that next month.   (gotta keep those 12 plants in the basement warm.........)

Now that Fox Sports is back on You Tube TV.................its probably goodbye cable for me.        I will miss Comedy Central, but I have a feeling they'll be on there at some point

I'm still rocking Directv Now which became ATT Now. Got in at the promotion price. It's up to $60 a month now but there are at least $100 and the tech issues from the very beginning have been fixed.

I remember back in the day in Det with  the  old mechanical meters we always ended up marking our own and sending it in on the postcard they left because everyone in the house was either working or at school. I know that on our old meter mechanism some of the dials developed slack. It wasn't hard to take a value for "9" that was really a zero but had bounced back to the wrong side of the tick mark. I remember sanity checking my readings against the last bill before sending in the card.

We are working on the third generation water meter reading  system since we've been in A^2. After the original all mechanical manual read came a mechanical meter with an electronic counter that you had to wire to a port on an outside wall so the meter reader didn't need access to the house. That meant you had to drill a hole in your wall for them. Wasn't thrilled about that. Those meters still had analog display dials. Next they replaced the readout system with a wireless xmitter inside  your house using the same meter so they can read them from the street (leaving you with a useless hole in your outside wall) We recently got a notice that that system will be replaced in the coming year with something all digital - I'm guessing no local readout, which I'm not thrilled about either. ?

Out of the loop. I basically only have cable for the MLB Network. Is this streamable without cable?

Do you mean games on cable of just the MLB.tv  cable channel in particular?

MLB out of market game streaming info is here:

https://www.mlb.com/live-stream-games/subscribe?affiliateId=mlbMENU

no idea about the other.

check this link. This is the MLB streaming service for 'out of market' games. I don't know if the blackout rules are same as the MLB service on cable but probably pretty much.

I mean the actual cable channel, MLB Network. As far as I can tell, it's on the MLB at-bat app, but you have to log in with your cable provider. Just wondered if any of the services like youtube tv carried it.

If I put my zipcode into the Youtube TV channel finder - MLB.TV comes up in the listing but I'm sure there are local variations.

I would already have gone that way but I haven't figured out how to insure that AT&T isn't going to revoke my grandfathered unlimited IP plan if I make a change to my contract. They are kinda famous for that kind of thing.

By the way.  I think today or tomorrow is the last day to try the 14 day free trial.  Normal length is 5 days.
