Yeah, but she could be doing Recon for the next attack.      Those national guard members can't stay there forever.

Not without Republican support.

... they want her in house being crazy every day.  her running for senate in georgia would be a gift to the democratic party.  just like todd aiken and christine mcdonough were gifts to the democrats. she needs to be on every billboard in every suburb in every swing state.  and put her on ads in latino districts that swung to trump too...

This is probably the best idea. I could go with this.

It doesn't make her any less contemptible however...

Yeah, I'm not so certain about this last point. In fact, I definitely disagree.

I don't need to think about that at all...

Boebert was already doing that.

I absolutely believe Greene would do that as well...

I agree.  There is nothing reasonable about Trump.  Greene is the red neck version of Trump.

and I'll reiterate that I wouldn't worry about setting a precedent because the republicans will do it without a precedent.  Might as well punch now because either way you will get punched later on.

The Republicans are actively working to make America a one-party minority-rule fascist state, and with the kind of norm-breaking you suggest above, along with Democrats hoping that norms magically prevail. Add a sprinkling of voter suppression and 2020 census gerrymandering on top, and they stand a horrifyingly good chance of succeeding.

well, the best political play for the democrats is to keep her front and center and in the news every chance they get.  if she's the face of the republican party, the democrats will be very very happy.

At least until she wears down America’s resistance to her with the constant repetition of her act under the credibility that comes with being a sitting congressional rep, until we reach the point that her behavior and ideas have become normalized within the party’s center, and then we have a whole new ball game.

The other thing is that, unless steps are taken to bar this, she will receive the same security briefings all representatives get, including those pertaining to House member security.

She can also explore all the nooks and crannies of the actual building.

And don’t forget Boebert, which we appear to have done for the moment.

These people are life-threatening to other members of Congress, but hey, not to worry: norms will prevail. They always do.

Right? 🙄

A distinction without much of a practical difference, other than scope of influence.

Greene seems to want to be a paramilitary representative of Trump.

The voter suppression thing is the single biggest threat.  They learned that turnout hurts them, if they didn’t already know it. Georgia is already looking to undo if.  The state legislatures are going to do all they can to stop or  reduce drop boxes and mail in voting and the fraud of a “stolen election” will be the cover. It’s up to the voters to stop it

Sounds good on paper. Exceedingly difficult if the minority ruling cabal works specifically to disenfranchise the voters.

"seems to want to be"   Heck, she's got it locked up.

I think the virtue of making government and bureaucracy more coherent wasn't on the top of my list but it is a revelation after negotiating my brother's benefits at the state level a bit.

Well, that's hopeful.

I listened to Charlie Sykes talk to James Glassman about a third party (yesterday's Bulwark pod)  and that seemed interesting.  Give me a path to a center/rationality that is flexible enough to choose which of the saner candidates where a member of this third party is not viable.  Give me a place where my views have a home.  And, to borrow the British phrase, confusion to ignorant nationalism and racism.

Did you read the article to see the number who left the Democratic party?   It does not specify if they in turn backfilled the GOP ranks.

I was going to post that article but demurred...

IIRC, the article was basically saying most leaving the Pubs or the Dems party were moving to Independent. Not so much to the other party.

Indeed.

The irony being that it was Reagan who set the table for the evolution to today's Republican Party.

That's how they started out at least.

That ship has long since sailed however...
