The LCA looks and sounds dead. The acres of empty seats is a bad look.

I hope whoever had the idea to put those club seats on the side where the camera faces was demoted.  Actual attendance isn't great, but that makes it look so much worse.  I can't blame the crowd that showed up for being dead though, they mirrored the effort from the team.

The Wings lose their 5th straight. 4-1 final. I only watched the 3rd period but it was by far the most boring hockey I've seen all season.

The first two periods were about the same with the Wings getting a few more chances but not being able to finish.  It was a struggle to watch...especially with my Kings fan wife.

As a contrast to the atmosphere at the LCA (and most NHL rinks) currently, take a look at these highlights from a December 1981 game at the Joe between Montreal and Detroit. Especially from the 4:00 mark onwards. Budd Lynch on PBP for ON TV, Alex Delvecchio on color. The win raised the Wings' record on the year to 8-14-5.

6:07:"We've got a standing ovation inside Joe Louis Arena. A STANDING OVATION". lol.

This is why they shouldn't have had those red seats.  It's an awful look. Brutal actually.  Worst looking venue on TV in both the NHL and NBA.

Will he nice to see it in person though.  I have a work function that ends Dec 14th in Phoenix. Instead of flying back to Fargo and driving home I decided to fly to Detroit and watch the leafs wings game.  Can't wait.

My wife, daughter, brother, sister-in-law and I are going to the game December 29th with the Wings hosting the Rangers. One of the few Wings dates on Stubhub that is a hot item. Presumably because it's Christmastime.

We might all go for a skate beforehand. Likely at the rink at Campus Martius. Clark Park looks neat but wouldn't be as handy.

Very nice.  I bought tickets 4 rows off the ice. Still $250 a piece.  Makes a little angry considering every game is about empty.  Leafs wings might be a bit more full though.

Wings in Montreal tonight, 22 years to the day of their rout of the Habs that turned out to be Patrick Roy's last game.  I wonder if ... the Wings had let up that night or Tremblay had pulled Roy earlier, and thus Roy not been traded to the Avs a few days later, would the Wings rather than the Avs have won the '96 Cup six months after this game?  Hmmmm.

I remember watching this game. I don't remember who the broadcast team was but IIRC they were wondering what was up on the Montreal bench.

As to the speculation - Hard to say if it means the Wings win a cup, much easier to say the Avs would not have sniffed the conf finals.

Should have started the rebuild 4 years ago. If blashill goes so should holland. Time to start over.

I would agree with that...........How long has the salary cap been in play?  12 years ago?   No excuse to keep leaning on that as an excuse (as Holland has).   Maybe 3 or 4 years you could say that.   He's butchered things severely.     I think Mr. Holland benefitted from the coaching of Scotty Bowman and scouting department built by Jimmy D.  He gets some credit for 2008/09 but that's it.

It was all Jimmy D, Scotty, Hakan/Euro Scouts, etc. Ken Holland is a complete fraud. He deserves next to no credit for the teams sustained success. He has proven, and then some, that he can't replicate success.
