2018 Draft Pick Watch

Recommended Posts

I like our chances. SD pitcher Chacin has a 7 era away from home and Matt Cain is having his last start ever. Hopefully he'll go up and throw a gem and his teammates score a bunch of runs so he can go out a winner.

Jeff's kid?  Good bloodlines and a position of need.  Let's hope he crushes it next spring.

Aren't they all?

Seriously though, I'd prefer the Tigers look up the middle of the diamond, all other things being equal.  There's that DH kid that is in some of the top ten lists, but I wouldn't bother with 1B/DH types.

So the tragic numbers are 1 vs Philadelphia and 2 vs San Francisco?

Hey San Francisco, you go ahead and enjoy your 2012 World Series trophy whilst the Detroit picks 1th next season.  #tonguestickingoutemoji.

Pick 1 feels likely. At least 2 all but certain.

Really huge for the rebuilding effort to pick this high in basically year Zero. If one of the college bats emerge as our top guy, he could be part of our dreamed Return to Relevance Year in 2020.

We should be no better than bottom 5 team next year, quite possibly in top 2 again.

By 2019, who knows, we could be right back in the bottom 5 or could be middle of the pack. So AA and co really need to hit on these picks.

We fixate on the first round, naturally, but also an advantage to have the top pick in each subsequent round, especially with the draft being spread out over a couple of days.  Allows you to regroup and think about who you want with that first pick on Day 2.

Picking 2nd isn't bad.  Worked out well last time we had the #2 pick.

Pretty valiant effort to climb up the draft board in the last season.

Back on Sept. 4, you and I had an exchange about the Tigers wins in September, saying it would be a fun prop bet.  You suggested the over-under would be 6.5. I was taking the under.  So far, looking good!

They got your 6 wins.  Must lose or rain out today.

Must lose (or rain out) today to stay at two.  Lose and San Francisco win is the only way to the top spot.

Let's be honest, this has been the year of the Deuce.  I don't expect any change in the standings after today.  But is there a way to forfeit before a potential rain out?

Picking 2 isn't all that bad. In fact, if you read stuff Faedo's teammate would and probably should go 1-1 if the draft is tomorrow. So assuming the Giants take him leave us the pick of positions players.

Number one pick is now 3 outs away. Unbelievably the tie breaker is prior year record...and the tigers were exactly one game worse than the giants last year. What are the odds of that?

And here we thought romine would be the bright spot in this season. We still managed the 1st pick. Congrats Tigers. If you had to mess up, mess up the best you possibly can....

Is Willie Mays in this draft?

Seriously, I’m curious to know who the super fans have their eyes on. Looks like some have talked about Brady Singer, a college power pitcher out of Florida. Any game changing hitters?

Tigers were 11.5 games "back" of the Phillies for the #1 overall MLB draft pick on Aug. 4. Went 13-41 down the stretch to take the top pick.
