Better Call Saul - Season 3

Recommended Posts

Looking forward to this.

Now, I do not consider this a spoiler alert since AMC has been running Los Pollos Hermanos commercials with Gus Fring in them.   I think we all know that Mr. Fring returns this season, but I have a feeling that Jimmy/Saul never actually meets him in person.      Some big questions are coming

Will Chuck press charges against Jimmy?

Will Jimmy get arrested? (mug shot promos on AMC say yes, but we don't know the reason)

Will Jimmy continue his office sharing with Kim?

Will Jimmy and Kim be a couple?

How will Mike meet Gus and what will he be doing for Gus?

What Breaking Bad Easter eggs will we see this season?

Will this be the year Jimmy changes his name to Saul Goodman and will it be to appease Chuck?

BCS Season 3 tonight.............Fargo Season 3 next Wednesday.

This is intriguing.  I am guessing he does what he always has done, been an enforcer/collector.

Who knows.

Probably, but I would bet it is closer to the end of the season.

Any word from Gilligan as to how long this series will go? I really don't think it should go much past this season and next. 4 sounds about right, one less than BB.

Also, Season 3 was when BB really started to take off. It'll be interesting to see how this show develops this season. It's been a good drama, but hasn't been very thrilling. I would like to see more of that.

This show is disguised as the story of Saul Goodman, but I find the transformation of Mike to be just as interesting, if not more so.

That's tougher to do here............We already know the fates of the two main characters.   So there is no threat of death for either one.  Sorry if that's a spoiler alert to some but if you didn't know this was a prequel that's on you.

There are more ways to build suspense than to threaten the lives of Jimmy and Mike.

At some point Kim is probably broken so badly by Jimmy that she quits law and moves back to the midwest, and something also has to give with Chuck. Maybe he dies, maybe he's a vegetable or some sorts, maybe he just chooses to never speak to Jimmy again.

But there are a million ways to build suspense without having to resort to killing off characters or even threatening to kill them off. Although that's how BB did it, so maybe they do need to rely on that. We'll see.

Back to this episode...

- I'm going to assume it is Gus who has been tracking Mike. I think that's obvious. How long has this been going on? I'm guessing Nacho tipped him off.

- Clearly Chuck is bent on punishing Saul for what he did to him. This will probably continue all season. The tape was a nice metaphor for how the two of them handle law/life in general.

- Is Kim losing it already? Jimmy already has her completely sidetracked. Not a good omen at all.

I love that woman!

...where was I?

Oh yeah, I think they're building suspense just fine. I think what happens to Kim and Chuck is the suspense. What I'm hoping for is whatever Chuck has planned blow up in his face and he goes to jail. As for Kim, I see her completely broken. I wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be one of the meth whores from Breaking Bad.

I would appreciate it if no one would discuss this episode until I have seen it.

Could not stay up.  Completely conked out before it started so I will catch up tonight.

You're weak and your name is "You're Wanting".   I can go out there right now with the same energy as you and watch 15 episodes of BCS..........Can you?.............Can you?   Those episodes are out there waiting to be watched.   Are you man enough to watch them?

Things were a bit hazy for me. I wish I had gone back and watched season two again. Or at least the last episode.

I re-watched season 2 over the last couple weeks. It helps a lot. They also could have done a better recap at the beginning.

They were running season 2 all day on AMC and it's on Netflix - so this is on  you - you lazy bums.   Yes, I am calling you lazy for not watching TV.  Isn't that ironic.     ..........And I am joking.

One thing I have always appreciated about Breaking Bad and BCS is that they are not afraid to have long sequences with no dialogue.   Pictures tell the story enough - and the editing on both shows is as good as any Oscar-winning movie.  It really is that good and that kind of editing in television started with the Sopranos.   It totally elevates the show.   I think of the scene in the BB episode "Box Cutter" where Gus Fring walked in and did what he did, in a 10 minute scene without saying a word until just before he exited.........amazing, and gutsy.   There was a scene like that in BCS last night.  There was enough action to tell the story.   And Jonathan Banks doesn't need to speak to get his point across.  I have no doubt that he's tough as **** in real life too.  That nose has been broken a few times.

And also,  Michael McKean does not get enough love for his performance on this show.  He's fantastic.

(And I still say Chuck is the good guy, even though he's a total richard).

He did talk about how much he wanted BB to be 5 parts, Shakespeare style and the first 2 seasons of this show seem to be following that plan(1 as exposition, 2 as rising action). This season he turns to Saul, that's your climax. Falling action, then resolution. Just a theory IDK

I think the point is that neither is good or bad in a black and white sort of way. Its all shades of gray.

I tried and tried to explain to my wife what Mike did at the end. I think it finally clicked.

Maybe next time I hide her iPad.
