Not even to 10 probably

If you count the MVP award as the best player, I agree.

If it's really who is valuable, Thomas is easily top ten.

Without Thomas, Boston is slugging it out with the bottom of the east for the eighth seed.

I read they were better in the 4th quarter without him on the floor this year. I found that very interesting. It was a month or so ago though fwiw. That by itself is not an argument, don't get me wrong, but I do think most seem to tie his value to his 4th quarter play.

Bottom line, I just dont' think you can discount the negative value of his defense if you are talking value. You can't be move valuable than Lebron as the worst defender in the league.

Why not? LeBron hasn't played defense in the regular season since about 2013.

And Thomas doesn't suit up with two other top twenty players. I'm not sure anyone on the Celtics is even top 50.

Not sure if serious at the top. Even if you think he doesn't max out his effort like he does in the playoffs, he surely plays a lot better D than Isaiah freakin' Thomas.

They have 3 top 50 RPM guys. None are Thomas. I think Thomas is allowed to shine because of Brad's system and the surrounding talent. Not because the talent is elite mind you, but because they take care of all the dirty work and the only missing piece is a guy who can create offense at a high level. He has Bradley, Smart and Amir covering his *** on D, shooters all around him and ball movement heavy system that creates good looks for its guys on offense.

Regardless of this argument, I'm very curious to see what they are willing to pay Thomas. YOu maxing him?

Of course I'm serious. Half the time they stick LeBron on someone who isn't even a threat.

I wouldn't max Thomas, but there isn't a PG in the league I would max.

So the Pistons have Russ, Harden or Steph and you aren't maxing them?

I don't want Westbrook anywhere near my team. Same with Harden.

Steph is interesting and he might be the one I make an exception for. I would like to see him perform better deep in the playoffs.

As ridiculous as I find that statement, whatever, people feel that way about certain players. I give up.

That said how can you defend Thomas having high value to Boston if you woudln't want the other two near your team??

Your question confuses me.

I have Westbrook and Harden in my top 3 for MVP. Thomas being there isn't out off line.

But the MVP is a regular season award, I want to win titles.

I could never vote for a guy for MVP that I didn't think helped me win titles. THat is not the same as factoring in the playoffs to a regular season award IMO. Oh well

Yet Westbrook is your MVP and won't get out of the first round.

It isn't the MVP of last year.  Its for this year.  Westbrook and his team don't have a shot at the title.

I'm with Mickey, just put me on ignore.

haha, do what you will if it makes ya happy.

MVP is about helping your team win. Russ does as much to help his team win as he possible. They won't advance further because he lacks the help. I don't understand.
