AZ gets Tajuan Walker an Ketel Marte, SEA gets Jean Segura and two minor leaguers.

nice case of selling high by AZ--I like their side of the deal.  Pretty apparent they have an adult in charge again.

Pretty well put. Segura may work out for Seattle, but it was worth it for Az

I kind of like this for both sides, I think.

Its too bad the Arizonas changed management up.  That might'of been the salvation for moving Pelfrey & Lowe and getting a pretty good cache of prospects in return.

I think this is a big win for Arizona.  Don't get it from Seattle's point of view.  Taijuan Walker is a huge get.

It depends on what Segura does, too.  That incremental improvement at shortstop might be what Seattle needs to get into the playoffs.

Walker has always been highly touted but to this point hasn't done anything at the major league level.

I wouldn't rule him out yet.

Arizona gets a young arm and a SS prospect on a team that needs reshuffled a bit from what the previous regime left.

Seattle gets an immediate improvement at a position of need on a team on the cusp of the wild card the past couple of seasons.

This very well could be beneficial for both clubs.

And (like Marte, who I like alot) he has 4 years of club control.

Sure, that's a good thing.

Seattle is also looking at getting to the playoffs for the first time since 2001.  I can understand selling a bit of future for the present.

Edit to add:  Avila needs to convince them Ms that Cruz can handle the OF on an everyday basis and offer up MartinezV for some prospects.

I don't like their pitching at all.  Felix isn't the King anymore.  I don't think they can compete with Houston and Texas.

They could use an innings eater like Pelfrey.

They could use a middle reliever like Lowe, too.

Come on cruzer, you ain't seeing the bigger picture and how it involves the Tigers.  ;)

Hey Cas and Cruz, don't forget to turn the lights out when you leave.

This is quite the sleepy off-season.  We need to get this thread up to 7,000 posts and right now I don't see it happening.  The only thing that can save this thread is a murder charge against someone in the Tigers' organization, but it needs to involve prostitutes and coke, and Trump too I guess.  The thing is, I can't think of a malevolent, criminal, sadistic force anywhere in the Tigers' organization, except for Allan Trammell.  And even with him, the prostitutes and coke, yeah, but I just don't see him as a Trump supporter.

I'm thinking that although Al Avila publicly espouses the "leaner" organization, privately he chafes against it.  He can make up that $30 million payroll saving with one score, just one big score.  I don't know who else is involved but I'll guarantee you there's a minor leaguer playing winter ball right now in Mexico or Puerto Rico or the DR, and in exchange for bringing some product back into the U.S. in December he's been promised a spot on the 40-man.  He agreed to be a mule but things will go wrong, he never signed up for murder, but events will spin out of control.

The Segura of last year is well worth Walker. Is he that guy consistently? I doubt it myself.

He's been inconsistent.  The one caveat to that is he lost an infant in 2014 (I think).  His 2014-15 were pretty poor.  Maybe it had something to do with it, maybe it didn't.  But he did hit .752 OPS at age 23 and .867 last year at age 26.

Its a gamble, of course, but so is Walker.
