Inciarte, Dansby Swanson and Aaron Blair... Incredible deal for the Braves. The type of package you don't really ever see anymore. For 3 years of Shelby Miller, a good but not great starter. Steamer only has him projected for 1.7 WAR next year.

That's bloody crazy by the DBacks. ****, Inciarte could conceivably outperform Miller. Then throw in a top 100 prospect in Blair AND the #1 overall pick?!!! i cannot into understand

Gabe Speier also goes to AZ in the Miller deal. He must've been the key to the whole thing.

Teams must really like him to be flipping him around in all these trades.

Agree with this except for Pearce > Aoki. I think that's a stretch. Especially if contract terms are basically the same.

As for Pearce, there was a crawl about him and the Rangers on MLBN. Bannister was bench coach in Pittsburgh when Pearce played there. Maybe it's coincidence and there really isn't anything to it. I can't think of Texas' OF situation.

Pearce is projected to a .333 woba and aoki is like .310. Pearce plays more positions. Both are below average defenders. Pearce is projected to 1.2 war over 300+ PAs, and aoki is at 1 over 500 plus.

Why do people like aoki so much?

I just read that the Tigers are searching for a righthanded hitting utility outfielder. Got news for them.....they already have one.....Cameron Maybin. What they need is a starting leftfielder.

You misread. They are shopping for a UTL player who can play LF.

I'm beginning to think Cespedes could be an option. Upton is talking with the Angels, Heyward could go back to St Louis, I read the Giants are not interested in Cespedes due to defense (Bizarre), so who does that leave for Cespedes and Gordon? Are the Cubs out now with signing Zobrist? Are the Mets still in play? By all accounts Cespedes liked playing here so his price may come down to a reasonable enough number.

I think it is safe to say the Tigers will be out on Fernandez.

Hearing that #Marlins had deal working with D-Backs: Jose Fernandez for Corbin, Swanson and 3 others -- until Zona landed Shelby Miller.

I consider Aoki an everyday player. If Pearce were brought in, it'd likely be a platoon, and probably more or less a strict one. So now we're talking Aoki or Collins & Pearce. I'm not confident in Collins as a more often than not LF. I suppose Maybin probably factors into LF as well, so maybe the comparison isn't so clean.

As far as projected wOBA, does Pearce's outlier 2014 factor into that? Granted Pearce hasn't had the opportunities that Aoki has had, but he hasn't been as consistent as Aoki. Again, maybe that doesn't matter anyway because he'd likely not be facing many RHPs.

Where is Tony Phillips?

Ignore Pearce. What's so great about 1 win aoki?

It's better than 0.6 win Maybin.

Fun fact: In each of Aoki's 4 MLB seasons, he's had a better WAR than Maybin in those same seasons.

Marlins reportedly are asking the dodgers for Urias, Seager, Pedersen and two more for Fernandez. Yeah good luck with that.

Maybe I am off base here but I don't even think that is a legitimate offer by the Marlins. At least ask for something that is somewhat fair. You might as well be playing fantasy baseball and ask for Mike Trout when trying to trade Christian Yelich or something like that. It's just not reasonable.

Cheap on base. 350 career OBP for $5 million. I don't think people would like him if he made $10 million. I think people like Aoki because he's a good value. He almost missed an entire half of the season so he was really on pace for near 3 war last year.

The Cardinals thought Miller was worth a rental outfielder. The Dbacks think he's worth the franchise. Who do you trust more?

Chris Davis has reportedly been offered a $150 million contract from the Orioles. Who would have imagined after being traded for Uehara that he would turn into a $150 million player?

I agree. OTOH the Braves made an illegitimate offer that got accepted.

If true, I am somewhat surprised the Orioles went that high and I also think he should and will accept it.

I was referring to his projection. Not what he did last year.

Maybin is projected for a higher woba and a higher war than aoki.
