I like it because he is basically calling himself stupid.

SBU in December: The Hawks are a month away from collapsing!

SBU in May when the Hawks make the conference finals: I told you!

I think there is a happy medium here, although I don't know why SBU has gone so HAM over this topic.

Cavs were +8.6 per 100 possessions with Love this season and +0.7 with Thompson. Don't let Love walk based on this small sample.

Nas, it just doesn't seem like Love is staying--don't think he was Bosh enough for LBJ, and maybe Love isn't crazy about being the 3rd option.

No idea if he's staying, but the idea that they are better without him seems far fetched to me and that's an argument that is frequently made. If I had to guess, he opts in for a year.

Just read an article where the Pistons are going to pursue Demarre Carrol, if so, that would be awesome. Even though he plays for the H*w*s. He is a perfect fit and upgrade at the SF. He's 28, but can shoot so he will hold value til he is 32 or 33 when his contract would run out. His value is speculated anywhere from 8-9 mil to 14-15 mil. I don't think he'll get any offers for 14-15 mil, too many speculators are over doing the new TV contract money. 28 year old SFs of his talent don't and won't get 4/60 deals. Maybe 4/40.

I don't like Chandler Parsons much on Dallas and didn't like him in Houston because he wasn't needed, but he would be a good fit here if as understood by many in the media that Carlyle hates him. Well hates him more than Carlyle hates most people.

Love never looked healthy this year, he seemed to be lumbering. If he has back issues then I don't like his career trajectory. He always has some nagging or crippling injury, which is a terrible combination when you consider his defense.

GS passed on him for a reason. I mean Klay Thompson is good, but if Love was really top 5 as his stats have suggested in the past, they pull that deal off.

Maybe, but they had control over Klay, he has emerged into a max player and Minny wanted more than just Klay.

but I agree in terms of Love's health. He was still highly effective in his role for Cleveland, but his injuries do give you pause.

Carrol is the kind of necessary player Detroit could use, but I would hate to give him a dime over $10M. I liked the Parsons/Harden combo as a fan because it made Houston more fun to watch, but Dallas is such a weird mix of players . . . coached by Mr. Crankypants, at that. I would love to see Parsons in Detroit, although I shudder to think what we would have to give up. Dangle Jennings, KCP and a future pick?

Yeah, Carroll looks to be a great fit, even if he demands what he is not worth, SVG and crew need to ask themselves what are they going to do with an extra 4 million s year anyway, add a rotation guy, or just try to find some way to spend it? If that is the case might as well give 14 million/per to Carroll. I don't see Carroll getting that kind of offer, but if that is the only thing that would make him consider Detroit, why not?

Thompson is a better player than Love.

Couldn't roll with that one myself. Thompson was maybe slightly better this year, but probably never plays at 2013-2014 Love's level. What they are going forward mostly depends on Love's health, otherwise Love will be the more valuable player.

Atlanta has interest in Monroe from previous years scuttle, maybe Del can clarify the S&T rules for URFA, but if we could I wonder if Atlanta would bite, Millsap pooped out at the worst possible time, though it could have been him not fully getting his wind back from the flu he got while playing Washington. Ferry seems like the kind of guy who will let a guy walk a year too early rather than a year too late, so I think Millsap is gone, which could either perk their interest in Monroe or close the door on them not pony-ing up for Carroll.

If I had to guess, they keep Sap for 4 more years. If not, Monroe could make some sense for them. It certainly makes them younger and gives them a post presence.

As for sign and trades, its tough to pull off. Atlanta would have to need us to take a contract back, which isn't the case really. Its 99.9% IMO that Monroe either walks outright or re-signs.

You shouldn't have to pay Carroll that much. He's not restricted, he's not super young and his position is a bit flooded. Middleton,Danny Green,Jeff Green,Tobias Harris etc.

Well I think so too, but Josh Smith doesn't come to Detroit unless we gave him 4/56 which was apparently much higher than other teams like Houston were willing to go. Carroll might not consider Detroit unless we back up the brinx

I agree, I just think that 10 mil or so is that number for Carroll.

Actually, did Ferry get fired for his Deng comments?

No

I said it last year and I'm saying it now. Thompson is the better player.

Kevin Love is a third banana on a winning team. He could go back to being #1 and putting up big numbers, but those teams will lose 40-45 games per year.

I would have to look at it a lot closer. But if they want Monroe + Carroll, it has to be a S&T for Monroe.

That's how many games Jordan was winning as a #1 option before he got help too. Its a bad argument.

Not to to mention Thompson hasn't proven that he is anything more than what you're describing Love as.

Health out of the equation, Love can have a Dirk like career, Thompson can be a Ray Allen type, at their respective bests.

Seems at first glance like they'd just need to shed Mack or Bazemore(about 2 mil each), which probably would be done pretty easily. If we could send em Monroe for something like Mike Scott and a future 1st I'd be thrilled. Its nothing special, but its value I wasn't expecting. I'd have happily taken Payne in such a deal, damn. If they need to throw in one of the 2 guys I mentioned above, thats fine with me.
