I've actually never seen Stuart Scott do a live broadcast before because I don't watch ESPN. I saw some clips of him on the internet just because everybody talked about him so much and I wanted to see who he was. It's amazing to see so many people in my facebook and twitter feeds talking about how they grew up with him. It's always so sad to see someone die young.

the matt millen of sportcenter anchors. there have been plenty of others who were as bad or worse, but none so bad with such a prominent role for so many years. stuart scott sucks. boo-ya.

i feel bad that he died. i just hoped (for decades) that he would not be on tv anymore.

if being classy is remaining consistent, than i'll do just that.

if you need to see people blowing sunshine up poor dead stuart's ***, there are plenty of tribute articles on espn and all the major sports and news sites for you to read.

he is in death what he was in life: a bad sportscenter anchor. from all the articles i've read, he was by all accounts a very likeable guy, a great family man, and a role model of others in the business. but i didn't interact with him on any of those levels. i watched him on espn, where he was at best annoying and at worst, the figurehead for the re-dumbing down of sports broadcasting in the post olberman/partick era.

i've never wished him dead, but for decades i wished him off the air. it's sad that it took this for the deed to be done. i'd hoped he'd just end up on fox sports so no one would have to watch him.

I'd love to hear how you think he dumbed down sports. You gotta remember that he was a man entertaining in a job that TRULY does not matter. Bringing the people sports? SPORTS? It's hardly life or death. It doesn't matter. What matters is two kids lost their dad, etc...

Very sad.

R.I.P to him and may his family deal with the future as best as they can. Stuart was no doubt a good person. He enjoyed his job and for most, people enjoyed watching him do it (my dumb self included). Sports is entertainment and should be taken lightly and he did that.

Keep it real Mr. Scott and send a little love to us Lions fans would ya.

Cancer has taken many in my family, my condolences to his.

Early on, this looks like the wake-a-thon coverage of Tim Russert's death, with those on TV deciding that the untimely death of one on TV should be covered extensively on TV. Not sure why this merits anything other than a brief mention.

When Michael Jackson died, the world seemed to forget that he was a reclusive man-child with a plastic surgery addiction and a reputation for pederasty. I think if you feel one way about someone while they are alive, that shouldn't change when they've died. I liked Stuart Scott. Even though he stole my line about the cool side of the pillow. But really, there was not anything in particular I can point to that I liked, except that he was always there. He was Sportscenter when I was a regular Sportscenter watcher. If Zimm did not like him in life, his death logically should do nothing to change that opinion.

I liked Stuart Scott as a sports anchor. I didn't at first but he was on espn so much I just got used to him being there. Sad to see him go.

I'm with Chopper on that. It's why I really liked him from the beginning. I hate the suite and tie, corporate way that most cover sports. It's not how real people talk. At least not the ones I want to talk to and the majority of the people who are actually watching. Let them wear tshirts and jeans for all I care. It's sports, not the nightly news.

Suart, while not perfect, was a breath of fresh air.
