Whitecaps Question

I don't post here very often, so hello to all of you.

Anyway, I have to admit that I don't pay much attention to the lower minor league teams in the organization, so forgive me if this has already been discussed, but a search has not given me the results that I need.

I'm traveling to Detroit next Thursday, and after the Tigers' day game, a friend and I are going to Grand Rapids to check out the Whitecaps. Who, if any, players should I be interested in? Is there anyone that has a chance of making the big club someday? I have no idea.

Anything I should check out at the park while I'm there?

Thanks

Yeah, there aren't many big time position players in WM right now, Harold Castro would probably be the closest thing. Jake Thompson (last years 2nd round pick but the Tigers first pick) is one of the top prospect, starting pitcher so you'd have to get lucky and be there on his day to pitch to see him. Corey Knebel (this year competitive balance pick) is closing for them and has that kind of potential in the future.

Those are the first three that come to my mind but I'm sure there are some others that someone will point out.

The one thing you should definitely check out is the food options at the stadium. Down at the end of the concourse on the third base line is the BBQ stand and the food there is spectacular. I highly suggest the pulled chicken sandwich with some sweet baby ray's.

As for players, Dean Green is probably the fan favorite. Corey Knebel has looked awesome in the 5 or so games I've been to this year and got to see him pitch. I haven't gotten to see Montreal pitch yet, nor Thompson. Connor Harrell has also been good in the games I've went to, especially defensively. I don't know what the book is on him, but he seems to always have a double and a great defensive play in all the games I've watched.

All five games I've been to, Endrys Briceno has been the SP and he has been pretty bad each time.

One thing to keep in mind while there is that the scoreboard is between 3-5 mph fast on every pitch. I usually always sit right behind the scouts and all of their guns are 3-5 mph slower than the scoreboard.

You guys posting chatty responses to the guy who is spoofing G2 is not cool

Not sure if you're kidding around, but in case you're serious....

gehringer02 is not a spoof of Gehringer_2....bloody hell, man look at the creation date for gehringer02, he was around 2 years before the guy you're saying he's spoofing. The two have even crossed paths a couple of times publicly and have joked about the similarity in names...it's all good...if you doubt me, just ask Gehringer_2.

I can already tell I'm going to hate this.

Not as crazy as when they had two players with the exact same name. One was a pitcher and the other a catcher, so there were a few occasions where the battery was just one name. Really wish I could recall what that name one.

Just announced...Whitecaps will host the Midwest League All-Star Game in 2014!!! June 17, 2014 Mark Your Calendars!!! #wcaps

What's sort of interesting, to any locals that have been paying attention, this news isn't fresh-- back when the All Stars for this year were announced, news reports were also making note of this tidbit.
