Yeah that Dirks' slide was sweet but mine was probably Cabrera's walkoff HR against the douchebag Perez or Avila's walkoff to cap a great comeback against the Red Sox the 3rd game of the season. I can't really think of any out of this world defensive plays or else they might get my vote.

After sweeping the Yanks when Cabby and Fielder attempt to do their funk hand shake, can't quite get things in sync, then give up and just bear hug each other...

The Andy Dirks slide seemed to be the turning point. It was at that moment that it felt like the division was ours.

Thats why he is my Tiger.

I think to this point, the play of the year was when Prince jumped on Donnie Baseball after Kelly hit the game winning sac fly.

Wouldn't be allowed to slide that hard in Sacrastiball, would ya, Randy?

Didn't Berry make a catch at the end of one of the Chicago games to preserve a win? I guess since the Tigers won by 3 games and not 2 games it was not essential, but maybe the season plays out differently if the Tigers don't sweep Chicago twice at home.

I would never go so far as to call it the play of the year, but one of the most memorable plays of the season for me was Jackson's diving catch in the 10th inning against the Blue Jays. I guess we can't embed video on this board, but here's the link Baseball Video Highlights & Clips | TOR@DET: Jackson dives to take extra bases from Gose - Video | MLB.com: Multimedia

I have never seen anything like these two homeruns in person before. For me it was something I'll never forget.

Epic Cabrera homers help Tigers edge Yanks | Yardbarker.com

DETROIT -- There are home runs and then there are Miguel Cabrera home runs.

Although neither one of Cabrera's two homers proved to be the game-winner in the Detroit Tigers' 4-3 walk-off victory over the New York Yankees Saturday night in front of 44,593 at Comerica Park, they had everyone buzzing after the game.

The first one came when Cabrera led off the fourth inning. Hiroki Kuroda threw an 83-mile-an-hour slider and Cabrera crushed it so far that it hit the ivy above the shrubs in dead center field.

At the time, the monster shot gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

The second came in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs. The victim this time was Cory Wade, whose 81-mile-an-hour changeup ended up in the centerfield camera platform.

That home run gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead.

The official team-estimated distances on the home runs were 436 feet and 433 feet. FOX Sports, which was broadcasting the game nationally, estimated the home runs at 466 feet and 444 feet.
