Miami is at Milwaukee for an 8pm Saturday night tip off before Sunday's 8pm finale in Detroit.

New York hosts Charlotte and then Boston in a pair of matinee games this weekend.

Atlanta has a home game against Houston at 7pm on Sunday.

Miami, if they are concerned about seeding, has the benefit of knowing what New York's win total will be, and also play an hour behind Atlanta.  They could start the Sunday game wanting to win and at halftime they could call it off.

It would seem avoiding 6 (and Milwaukee at 3 in the first round) is a priority for all 3 clubs.  And everyone sees what Detroit is doing, so its reasonable to believe New York and Atlanta won't be taking games off.

What an exciting end to the season.  Weaver has done a wonderful job.

In the event that teams finish with the same record, each tied team receives the average of the total number of combinations for the positions that they occupy. In 2007, the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Portland Trail Blazers tied for the sixth worst record. The average of the 6th and 7th positions in the lottery was taken, resulting in each team getting 53 combinations (the average of 63 and 43). Should the average number not be an integer, a coin flip is then used to determine which team or teams receive the extra combination(s). The result of the coin flip is also used to determine who receives the earlier pick in the event that neither of the tied teams wins one of the first three picks via the lottery.

2 and 3 get 140 combinations each based on what I'm looking at. The coin flip would determine who gets each slot and how far you would fall out if teams jump in from below.

Well, here we go.  Miami is likely headed for 6th, vs 3rd Milwaukee in the first round.  Maybe they aren't concerned about that at all and are looking ahead to who they could meet in the 2nd round?  Who knows.

Just lose, Pistons.

Even worse, Boston has nothing to play for.  They are locked into hosting one of the playin games no matter the outcome today.  I expect them to rest quite a few players for that Tuesday game against Charlotte/Indiana/Washington.

I guess I should have read Twitter first.

Looks like Miami has nothing to play for.  Del, where did you hear that the game wouldn't be played if it had no playoff implications? You mentioned that a while back.

In any event, the game tonight means virtually nothing in regards to top 4 pick positioning so it's not really a big deal if they win, for those of you who think this is a 4 player draft.

It matters for how far down you can slide.

It's a 5 player draft (4 player according to some) then a jumbled mess afterwards. The difference between 6-8 is negligible. The top 4 is where you want to be so in that sense, this game means very little since the odds of finishing top 4 are largely unchanged 2-4. The prize of finishing 2nd is a much better chance to finish 5th.

What is the lowest the team with the second worst record has ever picked?  Seems like it would be pretty shocking for the Pistons to fall to 5.

I think rankings of players will surprise some people between now and the draft.  It does appear to be wing heavy at the top and that bodes well for the Pistons.  Mobley is the type of player you take regardless of position because he is so talented.  He may be the #1 pick for me.
