2021 Offseason

Recommended Posts

This is such a remarkably devastating loss for Leafs fans that, gulp, I’m almost inclined to show mercy until the morning. So far I haven’t texted one Leafs fan, just shared lots of chortles with fellow Leafs haters.

Les Canadiens ont gagnent le championnat de Canada!

This team reminds me of the 2012 Kings that barely made it in the playoffs only to dominate on their way to the cup.

The Habs have won their past 7 straight and haven’t trailed in any of them. I believe that’s the 2nd longest ever playoff streak without trailing. Price has played very well but he hasn’t exactly stolen the games, as the Habs have been the better team in most or all of those 7 games. Will be heavy underdogs versus Vegas or Colorado but I would love to see a Habs-Isles final.

Speaking of the Kings:

Darren Dreger

With expansion draft looming, there’s more trade discussion developing around the NHL. The LA Kings could be a big player this offseason. The Kings are hoping to acquire two top 6 forwards through trade or free agency.

They’ve done a nice job of stocking up on high end prospects.   It will be interesting to see which ones they keep and which ones they move.   They will kick tires on Eichel depending on the demands but I’d hate to see them move too much for him.  I know Rob Blake would trade them all for McDavid if Ken Holland would listen.

I think recently fired Rangers and former Boston Univ. Head Coach David Quinn would make a fantastic next head coach for the Red Wings.   Too bad the job isn’t open now to offer him.  He’d do much better with this rebuild than Blashill.

But you’re the one person here who isn’t even in the offseason yet!

id love to be in Vegas now for a game  very good team, very good atmosphere

It’s truly amazing what the Knights have been able to do in the first 4 years.   If they can win the cup there will be much more attention on what an amazing feat this has been in immediately building a championship franchise.  It’s unprecedented in any pro sport.

Enjoy some hits from the Wings next superstar:

Thought Albert might be destined for GR but hopefully he gets a ton of minutes in Sweden

I watched 10 minutes of Seider at the worlds, in the bronze medal game I believe, and thought he looked good.  But hard for me to gauge. I would have watched more but didn’t even know the worlds were on until Canada’s upset in the quarters made the news. Apparently Power had a good tournament.

Do you know if Seattle is entering in the same rules or have the GMs tweaked it because they don’t want the Kraken to be unleashed quite as well?

If I remember correctly one of the big benefits were the Knights made a bunch of side deals with individual teams to either take a specific player or in some cases not.  Most of these turned out to be huge wins for Vegas and had 7 or 8 of these type of deals that really added up.    They hit the jackpot with players other teams cast off like Marchessault, Karrlson, Fluery, Carrier and McNabb.   I can’t see the rest of the league doing this again.
