It is difficult to stay interested, for me at least.  On a losing team I need to have an individual player that I am interested in, and there just isn't anybody.  Baddoo is the closest.

This is why I hate seeing them trade EVERY good player for prospects (even if the prospects are not very compelling).  You end up with a team with no players anyone wants to watch.  For me, if there are some good players to follow, I will remain engaged.

Right, as we have mentioned so often, one of the most entertaining teams had a losing record and Fidrych, LeFlore and Staub, and I still feel a connection to that team.  During the Randy Smith era ( "The Troubles") I followed Juan Encarnacion for years, all the way from Fayetteville in the South Atlantic league.  If the team is awful, I need to feel happy after a loss if my player of interest hits a double and a homer.  And aside from Baddoo there isn't anybody, no one is even close to generating that kind of interest.

In May of the 5th season of a rebuild there is not one position player on the MLB roster worth following because of his potential as a major component of a future contender. That is depressing and, frankly, hard to believe.

Look at the Pistons. They are rebuilding but there are 3-4 young exciting players to watch. They are looking to be contenders in the next 2-3 years.

I don’t know that you can compare the two sports.  There is so much more influence that one basketball player can have on a basketball team’s season than one baseball player can have on a baseball team’s season.

There is future hall of fame player Miguel Cabrera to watch.

all i care about on the major league team are cabrera, mize, and skubal.

no one else worth a darn.

Is this planned as another truncated start for Skubal?  If so, I bet the Eraser gets a 2 or 3-inning call in the middle of this game with the bullpen so depleted.  He hasn't pitched since Tuesday, and he's definitely a multiple inning guy.

I’ll be honest, I take zero satisfaction in watching Cabrera.  At this point hitting milestones does nothing for me to offset his millstone of a contract and his completely diminished skills.  We are watching the Mets trotting Willie Mays out to CF.  It doesn’t do anything to erase what he did as a player in his prime nor does it erode his hall of fame credentials. It’s just tough to watch him flail at pitches and trot down to first on a weak groundout.  I think he gets to 500 HRs, but I seriously question 3,000 hits.

i'll watch him because he's one of my favorite players.  that's all.  i dont like to watch him fail, but i am always hopeful he'll run into one and hit a home run.

he's the only batter who i care about the outcome.  i dont care if any of the other guys do anything.  wake me when greene and tork get here.

I'd like to see Akil Baddoo succeed.

But otherwise, as much as I'd like to disagree, I really cannot

Glad buck is gone. Now demote Reyes and   Willie Castro  and cut Johnathon Schoop.
Bring up Short for SS Paredes for 2b and Nunez for DH/1B share with Miggy.

Hopefully Willie can regroup in AAA and Reyes either finds power or plate discipline.

I still hold out hole for CastroW even though it seems more likely it’d have to be as a 2B rather than SS.  Maybe Paredes shakes out, but he’s in Toledo.

I hope Candelario hits so that he gets traded for something.

I tend to agree with you. Clean house and try others. Make some decisions. Every year we seem to keep hope on players performing to a level they clearly can not reach. Al is wasting everyone’s time. Now it’s Rogers. What has he shown to be on the roster?

They need a second catcher.  He’s healthy and he’s on the 40.  Those are the only qualifications he needs right now.
