Now that the minors have been streamlined to be more prospect development-focused, coupled with the bad publicity MLB has been getting by how neglectful they have been to players, this seems like a fairly inexpensive capital expense.

One of the things I was talking about with a buddy just yesterday is that teams could also spend maybe a million or so outfitting all their lower minor-league teams with new and more comfortable busses, maybe with reclinable first class seating, for the long trips they have to take. One of the problems with the current bus situation is that the cramped nature of the seating can easily lead to back issues across multiple double-digit-hour trips, which can cost prospects time on the list and retard or even short-circuit their development. As a capital expense, this could be seen as a no-brainer.

WM wins in the bottom of the ninth on a wild pitch. Crazy game.

First of all they scored 6 runs in the first 2 innings on only one hit.  That's crazy.   Had 7-0 lead in the 3rd inning and by the 9th inning blew it and were down 8-7, then scored 2 in the bottom of the 9th and the winning run on a wild pitch.    Wow.

I went on a podcast rant years ago (probably 8-10 at this point) that some team would gain a substantial competitive advantage by investing a relatively small sum (on the order of millions) into player development in several areas....improving living conditions by providing non-dormitory style housing or stipends for housing on the economy, funding trainers for the players use during the off-season as well as access to those trainers' high-end facilities and equipment (vetted by the club and carrying out their strength/conditioning program), improving nutrition during the season by providing all meals or substantially increasing per diem to allow players to choose something better than Golden Corral (this one is huge given the foundation proper nutrition establishes for training and performance), and providing access to nutrition advice/programs during the off-season, and possibly even providing housing during the off-season at or near the team's spring training complex if the player desired, particularly if their hometown didn't have access to suitable facilities to support their training goals.

I always recognized the negative incentive for owners to invest this way...they didn't want to rock the boat with other owners, but there's a substantial competitive advantage to be gained for 2-3 years if you plan it out and execute with the flip of a switch, before other teams can follow suit.

I wonder the benefits of improved travel would have on players.  I follow forner 1st round pick Matt Antonelli on YouTube and he talks about how often times they were essentially riding in buses like the one in Major League.  Sometimes they would get charter busses but even those he said were jammed packed and impossible to get any rest in so you'd show up to a game half asleep.

He said that the Orioles had "sleeper busses" which were busses where each player had their own little pod where they could lye down and get some sleep on the long bus rides and that those were the favorites among the players.   It seems like investing in those to make sure your players were as well rested as possible would be worth it.

Tork 1/3 with 2 BB on two consecutive nights. He has 8 walks in 8 games good for a 368 OBP.

Well he's seeing the ball. Now time to hulk-smash a few.

This thread is the reason why I constantly have the old Bob Evans theme song in my head....  think I need to change the title....:)

Baseball is an eternally agrarian themed game despite the fact that its foremost proponents are Suburban math nerds, the country of Japan and Caribbeans trying to escape from islands which no longer export any crops and only import tourists.

true story:  the imagery analysts who studied a certain conflict where Cuban troops were involved were able to successfully judge the number of troops the Cubans had by the number of baseball fields at their camps.  They had a mandate that they have no fewer than one field for each battalion or some such.

Lol yeah please do, I didn't think about that when I made the title but now I can't stop hearing it when I read it.  Maybe just "2021 prospects or minor leagues 2021".

Listening to Brandon Day on the BYB podcast. It's staggering that they don't have many real pitching prospects behind Manning. Nothing else in Toledo. Erie has a few maybes and there isn't much else below that.

Dillon Dingler ties the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth, for West Michigan. Lipcius is doing very well for WM, I wonder if he might be a Tigers starter some day, maybe at 2B.

Lipcius is more potential utility player than starter.

We haven’t drafted many pitchers the last couple of drafts.  It’s catching up to us.
