Boyd and Turnbull are solid MLB pitchers, but they seem like bait to me.

If they can fix Skubal, Mize and Skubal. I dont see much else on the roster that'll be around. Maybe Soto, Garcia and Cisnero, but it's hard to say with relievers

Cisnero is already 32

and the saddest thing of all is that if that if they chuck the whole front office tomorrow and start over, there is still precious little chance they can any better at any point this season than they are now.

Yeah, this season is long, long gone.  Even if they broom the FO, it won't mean anything at all if the owner continues to take a guaranteed profits-first approach and refuses to spend any money.  A better FO might start to turn things around in the minor leagues and improve D/D after a couple of years, but they MUST MUST MUST trade for and sign people who can help the big club if they are going to avoid being bad for another 3 years.

It did not occur to me that the Yankees have been out the WS for that long.

This seems to be the bar for being watchable (ie. 70 wins or so). Being bad seems inevitable for the next 3 years.

Is it possible for this team to lose 110-115 games?   A couple of SP pitching injuries, and it could easily happen.

Oh, the Tigers have been outscored 24-1 in the past 22 innings.

They are going to have to lift their payroll above the bottom 5, and do it in 2022, or they are going to continue to be an embarrassment.  Even if Mize, Manning and Tork play for most of the 2022 season and do OK, they are still going to suck big-time without significant additional help that comes with a fing reasonable price tag.

Miggy's drive to cement his name in the record books has something in common with cement.

any chance they do anything with the coaching staff , at least the hitting coach?  This is downright brutual.  Another 18 K's tonight, with a walk to match it.  1 run in 23 innings, if you take away 7 runs they have scored in the 9th inning this year in games they were down by 12 + runs at the time, the team is averaging 2.48 runs a game.

He'd be an obvious scapegoat.

you want to alienate your high priced manager by firing a hitting coach who is dealing with awful players?

I know he less than zero to work with, but this is really ugly so far.  Guys look totally lost out there.  Strikeouts galore, no walks, no confidence, no nothing.

this was the plan and illitch has already decided that avila is doing a good job.

Nick Castellanos and JD Martinez have combined for 16 homers, 38 Runs and 41 RBI this year.  How come we never get guys like that?

We do, but Avila's mom keeps throwing them in the garbage, along with Al's un-scratched lottery tickets and his mint-condition 1961 baseball card collection.

At least there's no reason to waste anymore time watchimg this team this season...it's literally unwatchable, awful, depressing, dreck, with zero redeamable qualities or upside.  Congratz Chris and AL, out of ALL the ****ty teams in this city, YOU guys are all alone wayyyyyy on top of that **** mountain, with no where to go, gj fellas.

I actually haven't watched Skubal yet this year so maybe his stuff looks alot better than his results but he is a prime example of why the Tigers need a complete overhaul of their developmental program.  He has not gotten any better the past 2 years, just like all our other prospects.  They hit a wall as they move up the system.

It's just so frustrating to watch when I see guys like Shane Mclanahan for the Rays who was viewed as less than Skubal by the pundits but they didn't factor in how other teams prospects improve while ours don't.  Shane is throwing 101mph with a ton of movement and featuring a breaking ball that just disappears to the back foot of righties, meanwhile Skubal is throwing batting practice fastballs or hanging breaking balls to guys.

OK guys. Back off the ledge. They aren't going to be THIS bad all season. Yes, they'll be awful. But there will still be plenty of fun games to watch.

Wasn't it sparky who said you're never as good as you look in a winning streak and you're never as bad as you are in a losing streak?
