Is there a way to get both Cade and Green?

Hayes, Bey, Stewart, Grant, this year's seconds and future firsts could all be available and there are ways to bring a 3rd team in to provide a 1st for this year for the Rockets or Cavs to trade down.

Not really.

Kind of a moot point since Detroit can't trade any future first round picks until 2028.

You don't even answer the phone for that offer.

Webber brought back Penny (#3 that year) and three future first round picks.

Wiggins is a little different since he was traded for Love.

But I need a lot more than Green and one pick for Cade.

I'm not saying I'd do it. I'm saying it would take an offer like that at minimum to consider it if indeed Weaver likes Green more than Cade, which would be confusing to me since Cade is the much better overall player currently. Point being, either trade down for a haul or take Cade at 1. Him taking Green at 1 would be a fireable offense.

The Pistons got the #2 pick when they were already contenders so they have been lucky before. They just drafted the wrong player.

Can you imagine if last night would have happened in 2003? With the team already assembled - & to add Lebron?

IIRC, that pick was #1 protected so I believe Memphis (or were they still Vancouver) would have kept the pick.

Also, the pistons will 100% being taking Cade, all other discussions are just to pass time.

I agree with this.  I do think Mobley is worthy of the #1 selection over Cade (as is Cade over Mobley) but I think the chances the Pistons select Mobley are slim to none.

What?

They owe Houston a first round pick.  It has protections on it all the way until 2027.  So they can't trade any of their future first round picks until that is satisfied.

If the lottery happens and Detroit keeps that years pick, they can trade it.  But only that year and no future picks.

Looking at some mock drafts and I see that many of them have Illinois guard Ayo Dosumnu going late in the first, he really impressed me last season and I think his game could translate pretty well to the NBA.  If he is still around late in the 1st I would love for us to trade up to get him, question is what would it take?  Could we package our 2nd rounders for a late 1st(say 27 or later)?

Think I posted this before.  Very long but excellent video with Mike Schmitz where Cade breaks down his film.

I would encourage everyone to watch this.  He is a very bright kid and it really shows when he is breaking down the film.

He's a nice player but right hand heavy.  Not sure I would trade up for him when we got Diallo and Fred Jackson as similar talents.

James Edwards interviewed Sam Vecenie today in his column.  Here is a bit of what he said.

Detroit Pistons draft options at No. 1: Cade Cunningham debate, trade fits and a wild card

Quote

Any team that gets Cade Cunningham is going to have a drastically different outlook moving forward. He’s a spectacular prospect, my favorite to enter the NBA in the last two years. He’d be somewhere in the top 10 within the one-and-done era — and probably much higher if I really sat down and thought about exact placement.

Cunningham doesn’t really have any weaknesses. He can score from all three levels due to his pull-up/stepback game. He’s a plus defender. He’s a high-character kid. He creates for himself and others, playing unselfishly. Some people have pointed to the turnovers, but I subscribe to the fact that he was surrounded by zero spacing, which exacerbated those concerns. Every time he drove, he had two guys trying to dig into his handle because nobody around him was a threat to knock down shots consistently. Then on top of it, he had a rotating big man coming over from the weak side because college officials love nothing more than to call charges. And the court is so shrunken, space wise, in college that bigger, 6-foot-8 ballhandlers who eat up ground are at a significant disadvantage. He’s going to be fine in the NBA with turnovers, and we’ll see his passing skill really flourish in a spacing-conscious NBA. Go back and see his tape at Montverde in high school, he was spectacular as a passer.

All of that is to say that Cunningham would fit well with just about anyone. He’s that kind of complete prospect, which is why he’s the perfect person to center a rebuild around. For instance, someone like Zion Williamson — who I rated pre-draft as a better prospect than Cunningham — you need a specific set of players that fit around him. It slightly limits your flexibility when building your roster. With Cade, I don’t think that’s the case. Every avenue in terms of player acquisition is open to you with him, which means you can take advantage of whatever opportunities come available.

how many first round picks would it take for you to trade #1 to houston for the #2 pick?

get our own first rounder back plus a houston first rounder and a brooklyn first rounder?

Two scenarios I consider trading the pick.

I get two top 5 picks this year.  Meaning Houston would have to obtain the 5th pick somehow.

Or

I get a star type player a top 10 pick in this draft and a future 1st.  An example is OKC sending us SGA, #6 and a future 1st.

Are those absurd asks?  Yep.  But I have the #1 pick and the cornerstone of my franchise for the next decade.  It would take something absurd to pry him away from me.

any realistic trade down was probably ended when okc didnt get two picks in the top 5.

if they ended up with 2 and 5, then you might have the basis for a deal.  but with only #6 in a 4-5 player draft?  no thanks.  not taking scottie "franz wagner's *****" barnes.
