Yes, and unless Lawrence happens to fall into their laps, or unless Stafford is badly injured, Stafford will be the starting QB for the Lions in 2021.

If Sheila fires Quinntricia now, she can have the rest of the season to evaluate the offensive coaching staff without Patricia's outdated philosophy. They will also be first on the market for new front office and coaching talent.

We better hope Sheila isn't the one doing the 'evaluating' of anyone with regard to what happens on a football field. The best we can hope for is that she makes a better 2nd GM hire and then everyone associated with the current org gets the heII out of his way. Let him decide what he wants to do with what's left of the season. The franchise's whole unhappy history lies with amateurs making decisions that need to be left to professionals.

I can see my nightmare now. With time on his hands, having left the Ford boardroom, Jim Hackett is tapped by Sheila to take over the Lions. After carefully surveying all his options, he takes Jim Harbaugh off  Warde Manuel's hand to be the new Lions GM. Ann Arbor is relieved (Hackett was always a loyal Wolverine) but Lion's fans are sentenced to 5 more years of disaster as Harbaugh spends the half decade trying to recapture the spirit of Joe Schmidt and produces a football team perfectly capable of winning 14 games in 1967.  Unfortunately they go 22-68 in today's NFL.

Tank watch, the Football Team is up and that's good. Washington, Jacksonville, and NYJ are the most likely to draft a QB, we need to be ahead of any team that could potentially draft a QB.

The Lions, at the very best, are going to get the 3rd best QB as the Jets and Jags are locked into the bottom 2 and both are almost certainly taking QBs. I wouldn't be surprised if up to 4 QBs get taken in the top 10 with so many QB needy teams and this being a super charged QB hyped draft.

Has Quinntricia been fired yet? No? ****. I better wake up tomorrow to a platter of firings.

There's no need to draft a backup QB. It won't improve the team in any way. They need to improve the support system\speed on both sides of the ball. Especially on the outside.

Stafford is starting the downside of his career (you can see the regression starting already), his contract is up in a year and there will (better be) a new regime to start next season so with this being a QB rich draft and the Lions drafting high, this is the time to snag one to start off the next and 50 millionth Lions rebuild.

I don’t think they can get a 1st for Stafford but there are enough teams out there that view the Lions as a complete laughing stock and will value him higher than his play here warrants.  It wouldn’t surprise me to get a 2nd.  The list of successful ex-Lions is large and the league knows it.

You draft one of Lawrence/Fields/Lance and trade Stafford. I presume you can get a 1st for Stafford and double up on first round picks.

all you do is say stafford sucks and then you say they can get a first round pick for him.  lol.

there is little to no chance the lions could get a first for stafford.  he's too old for a team to invest that kind of capital.

i dont see much regression in stafford.  he still has a gun for an arm.  he has no receivers at the moment and still makes some mistakes, but he's still got that golden arm.

you know jim harbaugh took a 4 win niners team to the super bowl in 2 years, right?

if anything, harbaugh can lose focus over time and should be seen as a short term quick fix artist, but its not like he wasnt successful in the nfl.

I did some math to figure out some numbers. Since the Ford family has owned the Lions (Nov. 22, 1963), the Lion are326-497-15 for a .397 win percentage, or what equates to 6.4 wins in a 16-game season.

Since the turn of the century the Lions are 124-212-1 for a .369 win percentage. That equates to 5.9 wins during a 16-game season.

The Lions have NEVER EVER EVER had back-to-back 10+ win seasons, but once had six consecutive 10-plus loss seasons. Caldwell had three winning seasons in four years. What do the Lions do? They fire him.

In the first 52 full seasons the Ford family has owned this team the Lions have had 14 winning seasons, four .500 seasons and 34 losing seasons.

I expected figuring this stuff was going to be pretty horrible, but it even shocked me a little bit. If someone asked me if the Lions won at least 10 games in back-to-back seasons, I would've said without a doubt it must've happened sometime.  This suggests even when the Lions have a strong season, they've never had a clue how to build off of that. Getting to 10 wins is the "easy" part of becoming a good program. Doing it for two or three seasons in a row isn't. It  takes an extra layer of knowledge of knowing what the heck you are doing and maybe sometimes a little luck. Posting 20 seasons of double-digit losses during that span (remember a lot of those seasons were 14-game seasons) suggests one thing. This family is a joke when it comes to owning a professional football franchise.

Still, the most shocking stat has to be the fact the team hasn't won a division title since 1993. Gosh, for some years that meant beating out four other teams and for other seasons it meant beating out three other teams. You'd think somewhere down the line they'd "luck" themselves to a division title. Nope, not the Lions.

I wish this pandemic would end so I can go back to curling on Sundays. Maybe the Chippewas improve to 3-1 tomorrow.

There are lots of teams and GM's desperate for a QB. Furthermore, there are teams that feel they are a QB away from winning that I could see offering up a 1st for Stafford. Chicago, Denver, Indianapolis, New England, New Orleans (if Brees retires), Tampa Bay (if Brady retires) are all competitive teams (or teams that aren't rebuilding) and could trade for him.

Do I think Stafford sucks? Sure, he doesn't play up to the contract he was given. I'm sure most NFL teams give a higher valuation to Stafford than I do.

whoever Jim  Harbaugh was when he got to SF, he is someone else now.

Who knows -- could be the best thing for him would be to get him out of Ann Arbor and the ghosts of his past to get the guy he was in SF back.

The arm may not have regressed but everything else has this year.  He’s got very little ability to throw on the run.   His decision making has regressed tremendously both forcing the ball into coverage and situational awareness of when to avoid a sack.   His overall accuracy especially on short and intermediate routes has also been questionable.  As I’ve said before, he’s still a good QB but he’s not ever going to be good enough to take this team to the next level.   He’s just above league average. There are about 13 QBs that are better right now and maybe 8 more that aren’t as good now but are younger that I’d swap him for if given the chance.

Stafford will be the starting QB for the Lions in 2021.

I wouldn't be so sure of it, the only thing that might keep it true is the cap going down so teams aren't gonna trade for his cap hit. New coaches often like their own QBs and whether its sign/trade/draft one, its now more likely than ever

He was great last year. Struggling now because he's not getting help, and he's injured. He has plenty of time left.

It's a very safe bet.

And the cap hit would be on the Lions.

Tougher to make decisions when nobody is open. Everybody was open for Houston.
