Looks like no Swift again this week. It will be interesting if Golladay practices today. Only made it through one practice last week before being declared out.

I’ve got to believe at least one and hopefully both will be fired on Friday morning following the loss.

I’ve never wanted the Lions to lose more than I do this Thursday.   Which is exactly why they will probably find a way to win.

This is the most important game this year for two reasons.

1. If they lose they almost certainly have to get rid of Quinn and Patricia afterwards because they'll be 4-7 and all playoff chances will be eliminated given how tough their schedule is about to egt.

2. Draft position. The Texans are 3-7 currently and if we lose to them we pass them in draft order and move up the draft board. We've probably cost ourselves a chance at Lawrence given just how bade the Jets are. That said, we still have a shot at both Fields and Lance. We also have a shot at a top 5 pick for the new regime to work with if we can manage to tank right. If Dallas or Washington win over one another or tie there is a shot we can vault into the top 5.

All I want for Christmas is a top 5 pick, a new GM, and a new coach.

its the lions.  they'll beat houston and be 5-6 and talking about still being in the playoff hunt and they wont get fired.

and then they'll lose all the rest of their games.

The Lions only deserve the Nickelback cover version.

I don't know...............that injured list. Sorry to be this cynical, but I believe half of those guys could play and they are being held out as the excuse for Ex Pats to give to Sheila why they are losing.

It's a must lose. No half measures, sink this failed regime for good and work closer to the high end of the 2nd tier of this draft (after Jets and Jags).

I don't think it makes any sense to fire HC/GM at this time of year. Let the season play out, and do it on Black Monday.

Oh yeah. I hope Houston wrecks them.

Wrong.  It makes every sense to fire them.  Why wait?

Practically speaking I can only think of three possible reasons to fire a coach mid-season. The first would be the players in total revolt, the second would be there is someone currently out there you want that another team might hire if you wait, and third - the most likely IMO, is that you are considering someone currently in the org to take over and want to see how they perform in interim status before deciding, but with 2/3 of the season now gone, it's already border line that you get to see enough of  your interim to be useful.

A GM, yes - absolutely. Today if not sooner. The sooner you let the new guy start the better. A new GM likely makes the Coach a lame duck  but I still don't see much advantage in firing him - are you going to try to put in a new playbook on the fly with 6 wks left? Maybe if your new GM already knows who he's going to bring in as coach and he is already available - otherwise leave him the rest of the season to do his search.

What happens if they do fire Patricia and make Darrell Bevell the new coach? I hope T&P will be able to handle criticizing the pathetic play calling and coaching all at once.

Will you be upset if Bevell ends up the new Head Coach?

Yes. I’ve said it in the past.  If we could only fire one of bevell or Patricia I would fire bevell.  He is vanilla in a cookies and cream with M&Ms on top league. Hand off for no yards, hand off for no yards, incomplete pass.  Bevells three favorite plays.

unless its coombs, it doesnt matter who the coach is because if patricia is fired they are all losing their jobs anyway.

remember when houston traded one of the best receivers in football for a washed up running back?

the one thing jarad davis can do rush the passer and patricia never lets him do it.

Gator brought up yesterday that the guys on the team just seem to love playing for Patricia.

Of course they do -  the ones that had any issues were broomed out of here or just quit the game like Snacks did.   Matt has surrounded himself with a bunch of yes men - most of them overpaid ex Patriots players.    It's a cult there, not a football team.

Well, there is a great plan at hand here...............far too intelligent for any of us to grasp.
