  1. Ha, ha. I think she's officially lost whatever credibility that made her a go to person.
  2. Being nice doesn't mean a Rose Garden announcement complete with parents from the other side of the country. And it certainly didn't mean sending out Susan Rice to say he served with honor and distinction. At best the circumstances were questionable.
  3. I really can't believe the administration couldn't see this coming when they arranged for the Rose Garden announcement. Or maybe they expected to get around it all.
  4. Romney tried to distance himself from making it national, he favored allowing each state to construct their own solutions. I see what you are saying about Trump's latest. I just see it as more of the same polarization tactics for political advantage. Or maybe it's the next step down the road. But then I'm not particularly optimistic about the future when I look at the candidates who are leading on both sides.
  5. He was not a good candidate but he was governor in one of the most liberal states in the country. There was no evidence that he was at war with women. (This was based on the fear he was going to ban contraception and abortion.) He brought Massachusetts Romney care, was that heartless? In fact, as I remember, the Obama campaign mostly attacked his economic record as governor...usually mischaracterizing his record. Obama earned himself 2 Pinocchios in this particular attack. https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/is-romneys-massachusetts-record-really-as-bad-as-obama-says/2012/06/13/gJQAjVqSaV_blog.html I don't like Trump at all so I'm not defending him. I'm just pointing out that the Obama campaign sought to divide by gender, class, race, etc. And he used fear to fuel turnout.
  6. Look at the themes. Biden told a primarily black audience that Republicans wanted to put them back in chains. The war on women, the portrayal of Romney as heartless, misrepresentations of Ryan budget (raising interest rates on student loans), etc. They took microtargeting to a new level and almost every appeal was based on fear. I do not like Trump but I understand his appeal. He is just acknowledging and spinning up existing fears and frustrations. So we could say those fears are irrational but they are real.
  7. Not really different than Obama's last campaign, even by their own admission.
  8. What do you define as government healthcare?
  9. Exactly. His endorsement is meaningful in Iowa because it provides an existing network/ground game. You can't win there without it...and it takes a pretty big investment of time and resources to build.
  10. And would it be fair? There are only so many ways to arrange the deck chairs.
  11. It's been going on in various parts of the country for a while. http://mobile.nytimes.com/2009/04/02/business/retirementspecial/02health.html?referer=&_r=0 http://www.oregonlive.com/finance/index.ssf/2015/10/medicare_2015_more_doctors_rej.html
  12. Well then it must be true for the entire country.
  13. Government insurance provides more bang for the buck? Tell that to the Medicaid and Medicare patients who can't find a doctor. The entire thing is and has been a ponzi scheme with the insured funding the shortfalls to providers. So how about addressing how you are going to reduce the cost of the product.
  14. I couldn't manage even an office everyday if 80% of the staff was underperforming/incompetent and the group we backed up was also underoerfirming and leaning more heavily on our office.
  15. I'd give Avila an A pending LF...he has until the season trade deadline to submit for his final grade.
  16. Attention, self promotion, maybe some door openings for some overseas venture, maybe some payback...far fetched, I know. I just don't think he's a Republican.
  17. Harry Reid is probably the most hateful, irresponsible, corrupt Democrat in the Senate. You don't need secret decoder rings to decipher his comments on Obama as an "articulate, bright, clean and nice looking guy." He stands up in the Senate, protected from slander suits, and attacks individual Americans, usually about money. And yet he can't answer how he he's made himself rich as a public servant.
  18. I thought this was the best plan from the start (try to make pitching a strength). Avila is impressing me.
  19. I don't think the problem can be solved by Moscow or Washington. It will migrate (as it already has/is) to Libya, Yemen, Afghanistan, etc. I don't think boots on the ground without some kind of organic support to extinguish terrorism from their societies solves much. And I don't know if that's possible with Iran and Saudi Arabia funding the chaos.
