  1. Do the Tigers have the most uninspiring group of non-roster invites in the history of the Grapefruit League?
  2. I hate the NFL Pro Shop family. Bunch of bandwagon fans.
  3. I guess I just don't understand trading an asset during the middle of free agency when you can just sign a similar player (speed, defense). But I get it in the sense Gose makes league minimum and under team control through 2018. Also, because Travis is blocked by Kinsler and the Blue Jays have a better player in Dalton Pompey.
  4. No team would trade much of anything for Price at $20M when they can sign a top of the rotation starter in free agency. That's part of the reason the Rays haul was less than expected, but also why they had to do it in July -- because his value would have been even less in the offseason, regardless of how he pitched the rest of the way.
  5. Weak effort by Heyman. He talked to one person (the agent) then used recycled quotes. Also I found three typos/grammatical errors. Weak.
  6. The Tigers will open on Monday, April 6 at home against the Twins. They do go to Wrigley for 2 in August.
  7. That was an Elias Sports Bureau note. Think I saw a tweet about it. Let me look. Edit - http://mlb.mlb.com/documents/1/0/6/90875106/8_22_14_PREGAME_NOTES_0hxnvw1s.pdf
  8. Yep, since Baseball Reference data is available. The last time was July 4, 1906 when the Cubs won at Pittsburgh.

  10. At the game. Hunter wasn't even at 3rd when the ball got to the infield.
  11. Down to 216.5 pounds now still doing the same thing. Hoping to lose 16.5 by the end of October which would put me at 100 pounds lost in 12 months. Seems like a real possibility now, and I get more and more excited with every weigh in (so much so this time that I had to find this thread and share).
  12. The A's have 10 sac bunts, fewest in baseball, this year, and have scored an MLB-most 573 runs.
  13. Tigers are the 4th team since 1914 to only score 5 runs (or less) on 22 hits (or more): From 1914 to 2014, (requiring R≤5 and H≥22), sorted by most recent date: Results | Baseball-Reference.com

  15. Difference between now and what was being said when he was hired is night and day. You can say all the right things in an interview and be really bad at the actual job. Is it ever worth hiring someone with no managerial experience? I'm not talking W-L records but at least you can look at decisions they've made. Maybe once in a while a team gets lucky and it pays off.
  16. Tigers would have to trade Jackson, Smyly and a prospect, someone like Willy Adames, probably in a 3-way trade, to land Price. Would that be worth it?
  17. Aren't the Astros using the piggy-back approach in the minors?
  18. I'm sure if they took some fliers on enough non-roster invites they could build a good bullpen. Since they're hard to predict, there's no reason to throw money at them, especially low-leverage relievers, but if they had brought in several guys to compete the overall picture might be a little brighter.
  19. The fact that the Tigers are in on almost every reliever just highlights how Dombrowski likes to shove some things aside in the offseason. The Tigers haven't had, nor addressed, a good bullpen in years, other than a revolving door at closer, while other clubs piece together a cheap, effective bullpen every year. The Tigers are going after relievers -- and willing to trade a prospect for them -- they could have signed this offseason for a million bucks.
