What do Taxi Squaders and extra players on the 30 do...? Nothing?

I'd like it more if they do a "JV" game in the afternoon with Taxi's and players not active for the "varsity" game (I'm assuming 24 are active for each game, and that can change game-by-game...). That would almost be like a Triple A season and, I think would benefit Mize/ Manning/ etal greatly... They'd be playing with and against MLB players, fringe MLB, AAA and AAAA players almost daily...

I think every team should have at least one monster on its squad. Like Wolfman. Or Kurt Bevacqua.

They aren’t going to have any traveling JV team. The taxi squad will show up to work and train and scrimmage at whatever minor league park is nearby, so they are ready to be called up according to whatever the roster rules end up being. The rest of the minor leaguers will probably head to spring training facilities for instructs and organizational games.

Thats how I see it being managed.

OK, I'll do it.  I have a few eephuses (eephii?) left in me.

MLB wants sites for the Taxi Squad that are within 100 miles of the main team, which means Toledo.   I am thinking it might go down this way - You have your 20 taxi squad guys that could get called up, but you can have another 20 minor leaguers that train and play agains them at the other site (Toledo), but that other 20 isn't eligible to be called directly to the MLB team.   If a Taxi Squad guy goes to the MLB team, then one of the others can fill the Taxi Squad slot.     We'll see.   I would love to see those young kids get to train and practice against the big league guys, but that might be a logistical nightmare.

One thing that's going to be interesting is that I believe that only the players in the game will be allowed in the dugout and the rest of the team will be sitting in the stands around the dugout.

I don’t see it being that restrictive. There is nothing stopping a team from calling up a player from single A in a typical season if they want to. No reason to have some weird restrictive list of guys that have to be called up first. They aren’t going to throw away the existing 40-man roster requirements and things like that. Anyone called up is going to have to be on the 40 or added to the 40, just like normal times.

They just need something to be in place that keeps the reserve players and potential reserve players fresh and ready to play as needed.

I can see it being restrictive in the sense that MLB will only test for a certain amount of players or be responsible for a certain amount of players......

Appreciate the offer, but I was thinking along the lines of Joey Wentz, but I don't know his injury status.

The Tigers orchestrated the pandemic so they could have Michael Fulmer on the roster on opening day.

I think you think correctly.

Now they are at a stalemate over 60 games vs. 70 games.   I'm sick of it.

Way to ruin any momentum you might have had, baseball.   What a bunch of short-sighted greedy morons.    Could have used the symbolism of the 4th of July to launch, but no, that's gone now.    Now they won't even beat the NBA to the punch.    And most of these owners used taxpayer money to build their money machines.   Bunch of scumbags

More importantly, would Funkhauser?

Big fan.  I'll hang up and listen.

He is going to be the 13th inning start the inning with a runner on second specialist.

I'm kind of resigning to the fact that there should not be baseball this year, or hockey, or basketball.  Football needs to take a year off. We are still in a pandemic.

Florida and Arizona, where the ST facilities are at, are both getting hammered with the virus. I'm not sure I would want to send a prized rookie down there. Especially since it's summer here.
