5.  2009?  Alex Avilia hitting a 3-run HR at Chicago White Sox after me telling my kids "They should pinch hit, this guy sucks"   Had to eat a little crow that day but was happy to do so.

If that was a Saturday night game, I met Buddha, Shelton, Chas and Eric Ceio the following day and watched the Tigers win a slug-fest at the Cell.

For the life of me I can't picture that Avila HR.  I do remember him hitting a walkoff homer the home opening series against the Red Sox in 2012 I believe.

I remember at some point in the game Paul Konerko homered to give the Sox the lead, and fans were yelling 'Paul-ie' like crazy.  Eric was frustrated at Galarraga.

Later in the game Konerko came up in a key situation and made an out.

Without hesitation you guys yelled 'Paul-ie'  really loudly.  It was delicious.  I will never forget that.

WHITE SOX 1ST: Pierre grounded out (first to pitcher); A.
Ramirez struck out; Konerko singled to left; Quentin popped to
third; Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga ran into the dugout
and confronted catcher Alex Avila; Galarraga pointed and yelled
at Avila, who then yelled back; Gerald Laird got in between them
and started verbally defending his fellow catcher; he and
Galarraga had words; coach Lloyd McClendon held back Galarraga
as the latter threw a punch at Laird; other players, including
Johnny Damon, separated the two; 0 R, 1 H, 0 E, 1 LOB.
Tigers 0, White Sox 0.

Al Jr hit some big dingers for the Tigers. I know he had his haters but I wonder how different his career path may have gone if he hadn't taken so many foul balls in the noggin.

He would have been a top 5 catcher in Tigers history.

His 2011 was an all-time top 10 season by a Tigers catcher and he was 24.

Let Alex play some 1b and DH...let Miggy rest a few extra days here and there...don't sign Prince....that would have probably lengthened the quality portion of Alex's  run

We missed each other by a day.

It's funny because I watched Saturday night's game at an acquaintance's bar in Utica and it was my first time there.

After Avila homered I remember squaring up my bar tab -> I could get home -> I could leave early in the morning to drive the Chicago to meet up with that crew for the day game on Sunday.

Funny the things we remember.

Watching some old clips on youtube brought back a memory. My family would go to a couple "family night" games in the 70s. Remember those? Iirc they were often double headers. Best days of my year back then. Better than Christmas. Before one game I made a huge banner that my brother and I were planning to hold up. I think it had something on it about Leon Roberts and John Hiller. The guys behind us were young and all likkered up. Before we could hold up the sign one of them puked on it under our chairs. Ruined it. I recall the guy feeling sorry. Should have been a future deterrent, but I would go on to puke like that 418.7 times

People who puke in public because they can't control how much they drink don't deserve baseball.
