It’s the opposite type of the deputy DA on Law and Order who was always a thin cute brunette until a couple seasons when it wasn’t and it basically ruins the reruns for me.

I believe his work around was when it was different parties.... for some reason that means something.  That's how he would justify it.

Seems curious talk of *two* conservative JOTSCs retiring should just emerge out of the blue.

Or Alito. Yeah... somehow the “election year” thingy won’t count.

I can definitely see them trying to push out these two so they can hire radical literalists in their 40s to replace them.

I don't think you could find justices anymore loyal to the conservative judicial cause than Thomas and Alito. But their very zeal for that ideology over precedent has probably been a factor in driving Roberts (who is hardly innocent on the same score) out of their camp on what appear to be increasingly frequent occasions.

I have read, though I can't vouch for the accuracy, claims that of the 9, Alito is the least collegial with the group. If that is true maybe his increasing stridency is a reflection that his is not finding life on the court personally rewarding.

If he were to retire now it would certainly be one of the shorter tenures for reason other than health that I can think of.

I'm guessing you're being facetious here as it's not curious at all.

Strategic works...
