Experienced my first earthquake today

A few days before that the sky turned green in Michigan and a bunch of damage was done.  Windows were blown out of the RenCen and it was the week of the Republican Convention.  Peter Sellers died that week too.      I don't think it was a tornado, I think it was straight line winds,  which aren't as sexy as a tornado, but they do more widespread damage.

was that the big wind shear day? That hit A^2 pretty hard. I lost half a large maple in my front yard, and the downriver burbs were hit especially hard -thousands of trees. wires, roofs damaged. Yes, it was very different from a tornado where the damage is along a path. The shear event created micro bursts - here, there, across the road, 500 yds away, randomly distributed over hundreds of square miles

not the same day, but the same week.  I remember Peter Sellers died on July 24th and my cousins were staying at my house because a tree fell on theirs, so it was before that............

I just looked it up - the Derecho was July 16, 1980.

I think I felt a couple aftershocks today. I was sitting in the kitchen on the same wooden chair I was sitting on the day before when the real earthquake happened and suddenly the floor and the chair just vibrated momentarily and there’s no good reason for that kind of stuff to happen. If I’d been sitting on a cushy couch of some kind I don’t think there’s any chance I would’ve felt it.

Maybe its just the chair?

Just hit with a 4.8 in LA. At first it sounded like wind pushing my house and then I realized what it was. It was a good rumble for about 5 seconds but that was about it, luckily.
