Tomorrow (March 1st) is the day a player must be cut by to be eligible for the playoffs on his new team.  Anyone cut after March 1st will not be eligible for the playoffs.

Good loss.  That Phoenix win really hurt.

2 games back of #2 and 1.5 from #3 spot.

Caruso averages 5.5 points per game.

Reddit & Twitter NBA fans have an odd obsession with white guys who are average players.

Seeing a white guy with athleticism is like seeing a unicorn so it becomes all the rage when a white guy does something crazy athletic.

It has very little to do with skin color and everything to do with uniform color.

Nobody gives a **** about Alex Caruso the Sacramento King.

If Caruso was black, do you think anyone would care about him on the Lakers?

Sure that plays a part in the hype but it's also a white guy who has crazy hops. If he was a white guy who can shoot and do little else or just another super athletic black guy, I doubt there would be a "The Man, The Myth, The Legend, Alex Caruso".

People still care about Dwight, and he's about as useless as Caruso.

My Twitter feed is full of stuff about KCP, Green, Rondo, Bradley.  None of those guys would get a whisper anywhere else.

Ah yes, Dwight Howard and Caruso are the same guy. Minus the fact that Dwight was the face of the NBA for a stretch and the fact that he is an 8X All-Star.

Also, Rondo is well known from his Boston days and Green is fresh off a NBA title. How many posts has ESPN made about Avery Bradley or KCP?

Caruso is a nobody player with no winning history or relevance. He is fun to watch and interesting to people because he is a balding white dude who plays hard. If he was black, he wouldn't be covered the way he is. To deny that is to deny reality.

Caruso finished with 1,284,932 votes, which was good four FOURTH among Western Conference guards. He had more votes than guys like Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry, Donovan Mitchell, Devin Booker, Ja Morant, and D’Angelo Russell, which is incredible. Caruso hasn’t started a single game this year and is averaging 5.5 points a contest in a little over 19 minutes a game.

Increased minutes while maintaining or improving efficiency is a great sign.

Is the Pistons’ Christian Wood a legit Most Improved Player candidate?

Quote

Numbers don’t lie: Yes, maybe the opportunity is what has allowed Wood to catapult onto the scene, but he still had to perform. Wood’s true-shooting percentages in his three previous seasons were 49.0, 59.1 and 60.7. He’s made a 4.3 percent jump from last season to this one. Add in the fact that Wood has taken 95 more 3s this year as well, and that boost in productivity is nothing to dismiss.

Even before his role with Detroit expanded in early February, Wood was playing the most NBA basketball of his life, with an increased efficiency across the board. Furthermore, since the Pistons traded Andre Drummond, Wood’s stats have doubled with no real hit on his efficiency. Last season, in just 21 games between the Pelicans and Bucks, Wood shot 52.1 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from 3. In a bumped-up role in nearly triple the number of games, Wood has a field-goal percentage of 55.1 and a 3-point percentage of 37.2. Lastly, Wood’s 22.7 PER ranks 16th in the NBA among players with at least 40 games. Only four non-All-Stars — Montrezl Harrell, Bradley Beal, Mitchell Robinson and Hassan Whiteside — are ahead of him.

tacko fall got almost a million all star votes, never plays, and is much worse than caruso.

Yes. He got those votes because he is freakishly tall.

Why is it so hard to admit Caruso got his votes because he is a balding white guy? Average Lakers don't just get that many votes. If they did, you'd see Green, KCP, Rondo or Bradley get them. His race is the one thing separating him.

chuck nevitt was freakishly tall and never received any all star votes, let alone almost a million.  this proves that tacko fall only got all star votes because he is black.

/obviously a joke.

i think all of the following are true:

1) caruso gets attention because he's a "balding white guy";

2) caruso gets attention because he is a balding white guy on the Lakers, the most popular team in the league;

3) balding white guys are an anomaly in a league dominated by uber athletic non balding white guys;

4) people like anomalies because theyre fun;

5) other players who are anomalies get unwarranted attention from fans for all sorts of reasons too, like tacko fall.

Being a bench player on the Lakers doesn't garner that many all-star votes. That is just reality. The one thing separating him is his race.

So yeah...he is popular because he is white. And Tacko and Boban are popular because they are tall. Don't know why anyone would fight something so obvious.

do you think if he were on the kings or the pistons he would get one million all star votes and be "popular"?  i dont.

its a combination of things.  being the "gritty gutty white guy" is certainly one of them.  being the gritty gutty white guy on the lakers is one of them too.
