I would say the issue is less that he was offered than that he didn't volunteer to move back in the line a distance. Maybe 'issue' isn't even the right word, let's just say the situation provides another 'insight' to be drawn.

The thing is that quite a few people are distrustful of the vaccine.  It is important that the leaders "selling," them on it do not give the appearance of hesitance to take it themselves.  Biden and wife are getting vaccinated early next week.

When Bill Gates forces an update down your throat, all you know for sure is that the new version isn't as good as the old one.

It is one of the biggest cons ever.  I have heard people say that he wants to kill people with vaccines which is absurd because that means there would be fewer people alive to buy his products.

My issue is with him, like most others in the GOP, setting a poor example while being among the first in line.

He's guilty of that no question.

Leadership lacking.

Can we come up with a term for these scallywags?  Original Hoaxers?

The problem is that, yes, in order to get some of the original hoaxers and anti vacciners on board is that some of their own are going to have to be shown that they are falling in line with protocol.

I would also be comfortable with the assumptions that some of these would still like to publicly play politics rather than science even though they've probably realized they've been wrong about the science, but realize they can bump to the front of the line for their own good.

I'm no fan of Rubio, but just in terms of continuity of government and setting an example, all of them should be getting vaccinated.

Speaking of which, I wish Trump would. If for nothing else that it may convince a lot of others to take the vaccine

It would be better for the continuity of government if half those in congress were replaced.  A coup is actively being planned and no one seems to be bothered.

Trudeau says he'll get the vaccine when it is available to 48-year-old men.  We'll see If he waits that long, but he definitely should.  If he tried to jump the queue it would be very, very unpopular.  It is worth noting that old white men are long gone from positions of authority.

Well, it had to happen. My boss called me today to let me know that his wife has tested positive, and that his results should be in tomorrow. For sure I need to get a test by Tuesday or Wednesday. He’s a chiropractor - I’m his administrative assistant.  while the patients are in , we always have our mask  on, but when we are in the office area where I take the payments make appointments etc., we don’t have our masks.

I’m praying that he’s negative, I’m praying even harder that I’ll be negative, but for sure Christmas Eve and Christmas day I will be home and nowhere else.

If the mood moves you, throw a little good karma my way. Thanks.

So sorry.  Will be sending "negative" vibes your way.  I make everyone keep their masks (N95/covered by a level 1) on all day, all the time.  They have to go out in their car to eat their lunch.  They're only allowed to take their masks down in break room for a drink of water or to wipe nose if need be.  Most don't like it, but knock on wood, nobody at the office has tested positive.

I'm conflicted. I don't like him, or several others, jumping the line and getting the vaccine. But if them publicly taking it and it helps convince many others to take it, I'm OK with it, I guess. Not enthusiastically, but I guess so. I would even say give it to athletes so we can get back to sports safely. Just...hurry up. No reason for millions of doses sitting in a warehouse.

While I agree setting an example is great, I wish they would have all done the same with masks and social distancing.

I know we have to support local restaurants, but if someone handling your food is infected,  couldn't that spread it?

good question. I know the US has not done a very good job with tracing, but we have done enough that I would think that if there were cases of people contracting CV19 from carry out food the word would have percolated out or we would have heard about it from overseas. The same would be true of fresh food put on the shelf by an infected stocker. I guess restaurants have quarantined themselves after someone on their staff turned positive but I haven't heard anyone in the public health community warning people to avoid carry-out.

As much as it shows a certain likable leadership for someone in power to do this, there is a legitimate concern that your highest executive is pretty much your chief 'first responder' as well.  Ultimately, not even sure if this should be his decision.  In the US, i'd think it would be more of a security decision.

I have nothing based in science, that I can provide a source at least, but something my brother told me (executive in health care) that he was told by a medical professional as they were discussing policy/procedures.  This women told him she'd rather eat food that a symptomatic covid positive person coughed on rather than sit at a table with an asymptomatic covid positive person for an hour at a restaurant.  Basically the digestive system would offer a line of defense.  I'm sure there are some variables there as well, eating with a knife and fork would probably be safer rather than finger food that you have to pick up and then possibly touch your nose or eyes.  She did tell him that if he's eating out, make the last thing he does at the table is drink and not eat.  Thus helping wash any virus stuck in the mouth or throat down into the stomach.
