Beat me to it, Freak. Telling a Russian they can't drink is like telling a Russian they can't hack into America's electoral process. It's unnatural to them.

Blunt, but accurate.

It took the US ~6 months to register its 1st 5 million cases. ~3 months to register the 2nd 5 million, ~1 month to register the last 5 million.  We've never left exponential growth.

Is that really a source of infections?

I don't know, but I felt like a damn rebel leaving my parents' house in Ohio at 4:45 Thanksgiving week.

(Standard caveat about how careful I had been leading up so as not to risk anything)

It looks like @Antrat hasn’t checked in here in a while. Hopefully he’s doing okay.

I'm good. It was a bit rough but I'm pretty much 100% now. Definitely don't ever want to go though that again.

Thanks for your concern.

And those are just the reported cases. How many people who got it didnt go in because either they had no symptoms and thus didn’t suspect, or were symptomatic and just decided to tough it out for whatever reason.

I went from early July to late October... Really just no reason to drink and I live alone. It's doable.

God bless.

I have an uncle in his final days. He was a second father to us. He was married but never had kids. I went to his house nearly every year in TN as a kid.  Not covid but he fell a few weeks ago.  He’s been in bad shape for awhile anyway. Had dementia.  I’m not sad he’s dying but sad we can’t do down there and give him a proper funeral but that’s a story for everyone since March. Only one sibling left on my dad’s side now.

I've been fortunate enough to know people who have had the virus but have beaten it, but that has changed.   One of my best buddy's father crossed the bridge due to COVID 2 days ago.   His message to us was if you know someone who's having hard time breathing, get them to the hospital STAT.    His dad did not go to the hospital quickly and the decreased oxygen caused damage to a bunch of different organs, making it that much more difficult to recover.

This really is going to be a really terrible few months.  And of course, I have Trumper friends throwing a NYE party.   Screw that ****.

ETA:  This wasn't someone who lived in a blue city.   He lived 3 miles from the Edenville Dam.   It can and is happening everywhere.

Yup. Washtenaw county reported it's 1st death in a person under 50 since the one fatality in the initial outbreak in April. The post above is exactly on point though - you need to be in the hospital before a hypoxia event happens and in many places in the country they are now too full with acute cases to admit people who need to be there for that case.

I'm gladdened to hear that your grandmother was not alone when she passed. I hope we can all have that when it's our time.

I’m so sorry.

This is also how my father passed in April.

i feel your pain, and understand how much anguish your family feels for not being able to be the people who were holding her hand.

1st major vaccine misstep. Australian developed vaccine causes people to test positive for HIV. To be clear - they don't get HIV, they just show a false positive test. (Don't ask - apparently they used a piece of HIV RNA in the construction of the vaccine). Government had ordered 50 million doses that are now going to be scrapped.

yep, hypoxia was the exact word he used to describe what befell his father.
