Correct, no one cared to point out he's been arrested, isn't a real journalist, is just a janitor (I mean, hopefully his vote only counts as 3/5th of a vote, god forbid we let 'those' people have a say in our nation) , or is a jackass dog of a person that ambushes everyone.  And why didn't anyone say that, because it was something that supported your thinking.

He didn’t need to be criticized because no one was relying on his reporting as being an accurate record of what he was suggesting.

His history of working (or not working) in journalism is indeed relevant when discussing the veracity of his reporting.

It seems like LeDuff answered his own question.  COVID affects the elderly and medically compromised.  Seems like it was be reasonable to assume that death rates would be higher in those facilities where residents are living in close quarters.  It isn't like it's just been Michigan or the US.  It's happened everywhere in most countries.

What he failed to mention is that most of the employees at nursing homes are making $10-12/hr and to do a thankless job and probably can't afford to miss work.  The same people are still going to weddings and parties and then coming into work.

  • Thanks 1

Do we need to list everyone’s accomplishments good and bad whenever we mention them? He’s not a good journalist, and that’s why I mention that in regards to the article posted earlier.

Wouldn't Kelly Stafford be considered high risk? I also thought the Stafford's left Michigan a while ago?

The thing I am over is semi-famous and fame-adjacent people using their pseudo-celebrity for stupid.

One thing that always gets me is Whitmer is targeted so much for nursing home deaths, and there are 37 states that did worse than we did in terms of percentage of deaths. Michigan is under nationwide average. Thanks, Big Gretch!

It appears that the ambition of the Trump administration is to have the fake epidemic producing a quarter million cases and 2 thousand deaths per day before they leave office.

All fake. Half those so-called “COVID” deaths were probably people getting hit by cars.

People who blame Whitmer for trying to protect the state from Trump's ineffective response have it backward. Their criticism should be directed much higher than her, to the national level. Didn't Trump put the Q-Tip in charge?

She keeps saying it's just her opinion. Maybe her husband can tell her to keep her opinion to herself? Or leave, go live in another state and be "free". Covid Kelly.

It is the government's responsibility to monitor this and collect data, is it not?    I don't know who this guy is.  He may well be a jackass.  But I still don't find his questions to be unreasonable to be asked of those whose responsibility it is to monitor, enforce, and make decisions for all nursing home residents.

Right but if he wanted to know why they were dying at nursing homes he could have asked nursing homes but he didnt.

I thought she was living in Georgia which has remained open but has one of the higher infection rates in the country.

Literally no one would have said this.

I really wish we could discuss what was said, instead of what someone would have said.   How it became that person x is a hypocrite because person y said person x would have said thing z makes no sense to me and its boring.

The reason I pointed out Leduff got arrested is.... because that’s the kind of thing he would point out about someone else.  He’s done quite a few things I liked over the years. I got no real beef with him.

Hashtag red state bailout

Well, to be fair, Trump did set up that naval ship and got it quickly ready and to NYC. Even though, I don't think they ended up needing it? But if this virus he's been ignoring the last month gets much worse, we may end up being really short of health care workers.

Same, I actually kinda like him but that article was a half hearted attempt to answer the main question in the headline,  at best.

I’m watching Dr Fauci doing a one-on-one with Chris Cuomo on CNN tonight and he seems much more engaged and energetic than I’ve ever seen him. Probably because he can see the light at the end of the long tunnel, and I’m not even talking about the COVID tunnel.

I assure you that my ballot which was straight ticket Dem, minus Candice Miller (confirmed no Trump endorsement this year), and even a dem vote on a university board position which I never vote on pointed the blame to who I felt bared most responsibility.

"Stan" comparisons are weak, unwarranted, and demonstrate you are making good points that challenge the groupthink mentality of "all Ds good, all Rs bad" this forum has unfortunately turned in to.  Whitmer is glorified here as much as Trump is demonized, and there is little tolerance for valid criticism of the way she has unilerataly acted during the pandemic.  Keep up the good work!

Whitmer is glorified here very much less than Trump is demonized.   We don't even have a Whitmer Governorship thread, let alone one with 1000 pages of glorifying her, nor do we have a don't impeach Whitmer thread with a thousand pages glorifying her.  No threads about removing term limits b/c she's so mentally fit.  No threads about her not having giggolos or prostitutes.    Your statement can be quantified rather easily and it clearly demonstrates you're not accurate.

Whitmer hasn't acted unilaterally - she acted within a framework of laws that the state legislature passed.   Then, the supreme court took her powers that the legislature had granted her (the court did that unilaterally, I might add), and now it's not even her acting unilaterally - it's the director of the state health department who is putting on the restrictions, which are also a legally granted power to him.    I would urge you to practice accuracy in your posting.

I personally have tolerance for valid criticism, however I will call out lies with the text of her EO when repeated lies about her EO are posted here.    I'm not at all sorry for it either.    If you want a forum where lies run rampant, join 8kun.

If you don't want the forum to be "all Ds good, all Rs bad", then come and post opposite of that.    If republicans don't want to come here and defend the indefensible, don't expect democrats to pick up that slack - that's nonsensical.  This isn't socialism of saying nice things about Republicans, no matter how much you'd prefer that.
