I think if the election wasn’t a handful of days away we’d be seeing lockdown/stay at home type orders going out.

Agree.  I think we will be seeing it shortly since its continuing to go in the wrong direction.  Stock up on your TP.

This is from a friend of a friend of a friend so take it with a grain of salt, but supposedly Michigan is going to be locked down shortly after the election. I actually stocked up on TP completely on accident. Grocery shopping last weekend I bought TP and paper towels, but accidentally bought two things of TP instead of the paper towels. Sorry everyone!

I do have to admit that it is a singular accomplishment for Trump to have brought the nation to CV19 100,000 cases per day on the eve of the election and still not find himself tarred and feathered in the stocks on the Capitol steps.  Not just anyone could have.

I went to get takeout bar burgers last night from a local bar, a famous one in Dearborn(not miller’s).  It was packed. Every table and seat filled.  People standing. Another place nearby closed after a staff member tested positive. Overheard someone say “other place closed down so we gotta come here”

3000+ cases a day means we will do the herd mentality before a vaccine.  Confirmed cases around 180,000, I think the true number is 10 times that. That puts us around 20% and we’d be adding another 2% a month at this rate if you assume we are still not getting confirmation of each infection.

Well, hardly anyone is dying anymore.... and the numbers rising are just due to greedy doctors, hospitals, and nurses classifying everything as covid, so they can line their pockets!

Come on! Get with the program!

Just tested positive for the virus last night.

I feel like I was hit by a truck.

Yeah, stay safe. This stuff is no hoax or joke.

We were talking about the Holidays last night. We are going to stay home and no family for Thanksgiving. It doesn’t seem as bad here as it does in Michigan but I did see a couple of maskless folks at the local supermarket. I made sure I stayed in different aisles.

Our son and grandson are supposed to come in for a few days Christmas week. Gonna wait and see the lay of the land then. We do have tickets the weekend before Christmas in Colonial Williamsburg. They’ve cut back on the scope of the activity and limited it to ticket holders only, and a limited number at that. It’s outdoors and they are keeping non ticket holders away so hopefully it will work out.

One small bright spot is that UM seems to have the outbreaks in University Housing tamped down, but the trend is not so clear for off campus cases yet.

I'm not so sure.  I think the Covid fatigue is too much and the hoax crowd will insist that lockdowns aren't effective, masks don't work etc, based on the resurgence.  There may be some minor restrictions, like crowds and what not, but I'd be surprised if we had a stay at home type order again, especially with no help coming from Washington.

Not having any Thanksgiving gatherings this year.  :(  Too many high risk people on both sides of the family.

There might not be any help from Washington in the interim, but there wasn't any at all at the beginning when this started either, and there were shutdowns and restrictions put in place.

We might be in a better place with respect to treatments and survival rates and that kind of thing, and the PPE supply is probably better stocked now.  But if case rates increase and hospitals become overrun again (hearing some of that in a few states) and/or spikes overcome certain areas / places of employ, etc, what happens then?

I don't have an answer for you and I'm not saying I disagree with you, but there's no national plan.  Until there is an actual testing and contract tracing plan and masks aren't made to be a political statement, I don't really see how a lock down will help.  The people like us will follow the rules, the young people and the Trump turds won't.  Cases will go down a bit because of that, but then it opens back up and wash, rinse, repeat.  FFS, there was a plot to kidnap and kill the Governor because of her lockdown last time.  She's been denied authority in court.  With all the volatility that's surrounding the election, you really think that 30-40% is going to follow any kind of a shutdown again?

It's ******* depressing.  I work in healthcare, and it's astounding to see the number or highly educated professionals who think masks don't work, shutdowns don't work, muh freedoms etc.  I don't think anything will change until a significant number of younger, white middle/upper middle class people start dying from it.  Even then, it's not a given.  Saw a pic of a guy at a Trump rally and his shirt said  "My son died of Covid and I still support Trump!"  How do you reason with those types?
