Are you otherwise ok?

Sure thing..probably just a bad burrito or something.  I am not looking forward to the bill I am going to get for the piece of mind, but oh well.

Glad to hear that you are OK.  Once you start with the heart burns, you know you're getting old!  I can eat whatever I want without gaining any weight at all, but the acid reflux gets crazy if I am not careful.

I fought acid reflux through a good chunk of my 30s. Then my boss got fired, and I got better.

My little brother had never had heartburn before. When he did get it a couple months, it stuck around for a week. Then he started to get chills and then the cold sweats. He went to the doctor. It was a heart attack.

It may not always be that serious, but take persistent reflux seriously.

I have gotten acid reflux off and on for about 20 years now.  Stress definitely exacerbates it.  I have had lots of tests and the gastro doctor told me I have a very weak sphincter muscle, so it's always going to be a problem.  My esophagus is really clean though.  I just take pepcid before I go to bed if I know it's going to be a problem (like when I eat something with tomato sauce).

Just in time for Election Day. I wonder how many people will have wanted to vote on Election Day but didn’t or couldn’t because of covid?  Either because they got infected or are afraid to now because of increasing counts?

wifes system shot up to almost 70. 10 more than last week.  And considering these reflect numbers from 7-10 days ago what will it look like on Election Day?  No more visitors in ICU.  Took that away this week.

US per population fatalities still higher than anywhere in Europe other than Belgium and Spain. UK and Italy are close. Rest of Europe is strung out at lower levels down to Germany at 20% of our loss rate. The other salient comparison - esp for us in the Midwest,  is Canada, sitting at something like 1/3 of our loss rate.

That said, humans are indeed stupid everywhere.

People are tired of seven months of sheltering, or at least nonstop admonitions to shelter, and are straining against it. I get that.

It doesn’t help that the most powerful man in the world is egging them on.

What I don’t get is though is... I feel like I am not really sheltered or locked down.  My life isn’t that different.  The worst is virtual school and I’m not convinced it’s necessary.  I miss things like concerts and my indoor fitness classes and races and meeting friends for drinks but that seems petty considering the circumstances.   I feel bad for certain industries obviously.

I don't either, but I am one of the few people I know still working pretty much in person. My view is skewed because I am on a campus, but the issue on one end of the demographics is that as more young people get it, and see each other have no or quite minor symptoms they just don't believe (probably rightly) that they need to care about it for themselves, and the general level of vigilance anywhere other than in classes where things are enforced, is on its way to zero. (commonly overheard when students are discussing CV19 "But how many students are in the Hospital?!") But I have no clue how much of the general population rise is leakage from youth populations and how much is adults who are not complying either.

Geez.  Mandatory masking here to enter public places and it is practically useless because so many gomers pull them down under their noses when they get inside.

I will never understand why people are so angrily opposed to mask wearing and whining about is as much as they are.   And the lack of common sense!  Last week, for example, I stood at an appropriate distance waiting for a lady to select a pound of ground beef.  She literally handled every single package on the shelf!  No idea why since they were all identical.  I finally decided to get what I needed at the butcher counter, figured it was more sanitary.

Glad I'm not the only one noticing that people are really letting their guards down these days...

This is what gets me about the anti masks crowd. If the government is just trying to control us with masks, what is their end game with that? Are you going to turn into autonomous robots to do their bidding because we complied with masks? I don’t get it.

We just agreed with my daughter and her husband that we will not celebrate Thanksgiving together this year.  We have not hugged since early March.  This is getting really old, but most people are worse off.

Is it not an intrusion on their freedoms to have to wear pants?

My life is not much different either.  I think some people have more of a need to socialize with large groups of people. I am also fortunate in that my job can easily be done at home.

my life isnt that much different, but it still sucks.  we had a vacation to europe planned that we had to cancel.  we dont go out to eat anymore.  never go out to the movies.  never go out with friends.  i cant travel for work anymore.

the benefits being that im saving more money and i dont have to commute.  i have more time with the family (and only the immediate family, havent seen extended family in months) and more time to do other things like exercise (ive lost 20 pounds in lockdown).

im sick of it.  i want to go back to the way (most) things were.

as for mask wearing, its such a simple thing that not to do it seems petty, but i see people not doing it all the time.  we live next to a park and people have been there playing in soccer leagues and outdoor volleyball games for the entire summer with no masks.  the police broke them up in the beginning but just gave up after a while.  mostly africans and central americans that i assume are immigrant families considering how little english is being spoken.

If things continue as they are trending, you will get your wish soon enough. The population with which you will be vying for space in the restaurants and airplanes will just be a percent or so smaller.  :dead::dead:

We had Thanksgiving last week, and delivered turkey dinner to our son and his wife.

No shoes, no shirt, no service.

I don’t see folks getting their panties in a wad over that.

Maybe I should protest, you let a guy come in wearing a mask improperly, I wander around the store with my shirt tied around my waist. And claim it’s because of a medical condition
