Coronavirus: Coming to a Neighborhood Near You?

Not sure New Zealand is a good comparison, being an island.

I'm not defending Trump.  I'm just saying I get why so many do not know what is right or best because we can't trust anyone.  So much politically motivated BS being thrown around.  Bad studies being amplified by both right and left.   I am astounded by what titty babies people are being about wearing a freaking mask in public places, citing BS, outdated, or poorly understood studies out of context.   On the other side, we are hearing messages from "experts,"  that do not make common sense.  For example, how mass protests for one cause do not result in disease spread but similarly sized gatherings for another cause do.

Us, we continue to hunker down for the most part.  Wear our masks, and treat everyone we encounter like they are a disease threat because it is so widespread and people are such idiots.  My brother I mentioned came by mom's yesterday.  He always wears a mask when around her.  She and I were unmasked, but sitting on the front porch in a rocking chair about ten feet away from hers while we waited.   His help was needed for something relating to her car that I was unable to do.    And I'm telling you, those people at the grocery store wearing masks under their noses spewing their cooties all over were not the Trumper demographic.  Either that, or Biden has a worry among a certain group that traditionally votes Democratic.  Unfortunately, what people say and how they behave in real life have little connection.

Doctors can't agree on anything across the board, therefore I can't trust them with any diagnosis.

Honestly, having a husband who is permanently disabled because he was misdiagnosed by not one but two doctors in the ER, I don't. I knew what they were telling me didn't sound right and pushed back some but didn't know enough to know what it was.  I just knew that what they were telling us didn't explain some symptoms that they were discounting.   A simple sonogram would have mitigated most of his brain injury.  It wasn't ordered until the next day after he took a nose dive overnight, too late.   Once we had a good diagnosis, it explained ALL of his symptoms.

And I also get those concerned about being unable to be in the hospital with sick family members.  I get why it is being done.  But I have caught everything from medication errors to out and out abuse.  Personally.

our borders are pretty much closed so I don't see what being an Island has to do with anything.  We are failing at slowing community spread which is amplifying the problem.   Our attorney general says that mandates to encourage stopping that spread is the biggest infringment on freedom in our country since Slavery.   Our national leadership empowered by law and by position failed in their bully pulpit and have convinced a significant number of people that the precautions are irrelevant and meaningless..... they mock mask wearers.  They can't be left off the hook in a "What are you going to do?" response.  He can wear a mask and emphatically insist that others do rather than act like it's macho not to.

That's a double wow!

Southern expression referring to an infant still being nursed.  Not sure why it's offensive to you considering open nursing in public and in congress are legal rights.

Yes, I have heard the expression before.

No, I don't find it offensive.

My statement was a double entendre. 😉

Did Melody just say titty?

I didn't even know we were allowed to say that.

I was a little surprised it passed the filter myself. LOL  I mean, it is a very common expression here in the south but... *shrug*

A few days ago there was a story out of Nashville about city officials covering up low Covid counts at bars. Even made it to Tucker’s show and Sen Blackburn made a stink.

it was wrong. TV station retracted.  The emails it was based on were not fully read.  They weren’t restricting the low counts at specific bars to hide data but to protect privacy.  If you knew a bar at 2 cases someone could figure out who. Their data standards prevented that kind of disclosure. They didn’t want to also only mention bars with higher counts because that would be unfair to that bar.  Either way the full number of cases was released. Just not broken down by establishment.

Michigan Covid hospitalization census fall below 500 for the 1st time since mid July. Most of the the MI college town out breaks are stabilizing,, though cases are still creeping up at UM - 23 confirmed and in quarantine.

I hesitate to say it but I think the school and college thing has been going better than I expected. My sons school, Michigan school for the deaf, in Flint is virtual until Nov. then they will reassess. I’m hopeful.

research on Dearborn’s high numbers the last month or so point to young people.

The school thing has been better than expected.  I'm in Trump country up here in northern Macomb and my kids school district is getting pounded for going virtual.  That said, it's getting colder and even if we don't get a second wave, flu and sinus issues alone I see causing a ton of trouble for schools that are open.

As for colleges, i'm annoyed at Whitmer on that.  At least show me the 'science' that says there is no way to make movie theaters safe, but sending 18-22 year olds off to school is perfectly fine.  They only have 'protester' air at those colleges that makes it impossible to spread this thing?  (note, should say BLM-protester air as we know the anti-shutdown protesters probably caused most of Michigan's deaths).

Cynically, if the state was profiting off the movie theater, it would be allowed.
