What's particularly frustrating about the Trump line is is that the companies themselves have said they are not releasing a vaccine unless it's ready.

It's so ****ing stupid.... but, you know, we're all hypoocrites if we don't just take the President's word for it.

It’s like the Health Care plan that was promised a month ago and infrastructure proposals. Remember Trump is a snake oil salesman. That’s what he will deliver, magic beans.

Putin is Trump's most likely  vaccine supplier. That will be the October Surprise.

Remember - October as in the Russian Revolution.

Why is a snake oil salesman delivering magic beans?

He lost the election when he did this.  Not that it would have been easy otherwise.

Trump insisted “Nothing more could have been done.”

Nothing more could have been done... The most powerful man in the world’s most powerful country says this.

As I continue to pack bags/clear out my father’s closets, dressers, etc., this revelation of this last quote from President is like a continual stab in the back. Every. Damn. Day.

My anger and grief is growing, rather than lessening.

This President has discounted every family in this country who has lost someone.

We don’t matter. Not even a little.

It is hard to know what is true and who to follow on this.  Trump?  No.  WHO?  No. Any politician from either party?  Darned few of them.   Most governors from both parties have done a reasonable job given the circumstances and info available to them, imo.  But at what cost?

It really is shameful how even statistics are being manipulated to suit political narratives.  And poorly executed studies being amplified uncritically by media.

Other countries figured if out. Ours treated it like a financial problem and not a health problem. He had plenty of time to get people there to investigate and study this rather than assuming it would just “work itself out”. Every single decision made by him was done purely for the stock market.  That was his only concern. I remember even in March after the **** hit the fan he gathers in the oil execs promising “don’t worry... we will take care of you”. People don’t give a **** about them.   If we had a different president we would not be where we are today.  That’s a certainty. The single biggest **** up in our nations history.

At best, to Trump, you are the help who brings his cheeseburger or the court sage who explains the more complicated details of Buddhist koans to demonstrate the inadequacy of logical reasoning and to provoke enlightenment aka, his Roy Cohn.

This.

The quote from the Woodward book where he says he “didn’t want to cause a panic”. He was not talking about causing a panic among PEOPLE, he was talking about causing a panic on the stock market. The STOCK MARKET. The investors, the brokers, his billionaire friends.

Isn’t that obvious to everyone? He does not care about people.

Are you following the news in other countries?  I have friends all over the world posting their local news, and it doesn't seem to be going well.  I've mentioned the girl who works in an infectious disease lab in Northern Ireland.  Just yesterday she was ranting about how "chaotic," the UK testing program continues to be.  Read recently about Spain and France having a second wave that puts them at April figures.   My youngest brother is being sent this month for 45 days to Greece on a project for his aerospace industry employer.  They currently have an unprecedented outbreak there.  Almost twice the numbers from their previous high in April.  We (mom and I)  are very worried.

Yes I do.  And Yes there are still problems but not as bad as they are here.  New Zealand had zero cases for the fourth day in a row.  In Canada it's going very well.

It's absolutely mind boggling to think that somehow this was inevitible.  It wasn't.  He ****** it all up and the people who voted and support him are partially to blame.  "Hey, let's get a businessman in there... it'll be great".  You get what you pay for.  I remember him tweeting out a picture of the stock market one Friday afternoon after the markets closed.... as if anyone gave a flying **** about that when they were sent home from home, kids from school, meat not on the shelves, and no TP to be found.... "Hey the market went up again.  Woo Hoo."

Not all outbreaks are created equal.  And this is also a case where the US could have actually led the charge and perhaps discovered something that could have helped other countries and be a leader like we were until we elected Don Trump President.

No, it wouldn't be perfect or normal with another president but there wouldn't be 200K dead and a thousand more by the day either.   He still doesn't get it.  He only cares about it now because of the election.  If this were 2019 or a year into a new term it would be a lot worse.

It's ok if I shirk my responsibilities as a parent and raise a ****ty kid as a consequence because other parents found parenting to be difficult.

All while ignoring the advice of experts on their area of expertise because my gut says it doesn't feel quite right without any sense of irony.

'Murica in a nut shell.
