Got an alert that the Oxford trial has resumed. That’s good news.

Looked it up.  They are citing patient confidentiality so aren't saying why it was decided so quickly to resume the trial.   I guess it could even be that the sick individual was found to have received the placebo.  Or they identified another cause of the illness.  I don't guess we will know.

That is on him.  Something I wonder about though is the tax implications.  I remember, for example, when Tina Turner moved to Switzerland with her new husband she surrendered her U.S. citizenship so that she didn't have to pay U.S. taxes.

We can both move to "French Canada".

Indeed, Uncle Sam doesn't let you out of income taxes just by moving away!

I'm not sure I agree with this, but you have a right to your opinion.

What don't you agree with? Or are you being funny?

Well, you had me nodding with 118984848, but once you got to 10219679344387996, you lost me.

OK, it must be a Firefox problem because this is what I am seeing:

2020-09-12_12-09-17.thumb.jpg.07a7eebcb7a6f15155c08f1256546a8c.jpg

Firefox has not been my friend for a while now. I've already had to uninstall and reinstall it.

EDIT: I have identified the culprit, a Firefox add-on called Facebook Container, which Mozilla developed to keep Facebook from tracking me around other websites on the Internet.

It is how the dude I'm researching (b. 1855) and his wife consistently self identified in U.S. government documents as place of birth.  Sure would make things easier if he had been a bit more specific because I'm having to search in all of them in very old, handwritten documents written in French.  And a fairly common surname up there including all variations.  (Rouiller). It's a chore.  But kind of fun.

I wish I could share more with y’all, but my grandparents are dead and my mom and her siblings were pre-teens. So whatever reasoning may have been in place in 1964 is probably lost at this point.

I feel fairly confident being drafted into the Canadian military was not a concern at the time. My grandfather was a pilot for the RCAF during the war, though. He didn’t like to talk about it.

If you try to claim Canadian citizenship,  the first test you have to pass is when the clerk dips a french fry in vinegar and watches you eat it. Don't grimace.  😄😄

Oh my gosh, indeed!

White male domination isn't going to end because of immigration, it's going to end because the species is doomed by its own stupidity.

And also just as an add on freebie, try to reimagine this stop if the kids had been black.

Only if you salt the **** out of it after the vinegar.

Every one of those guys is going to be a boss or an entrepreneur some day.

And if kids had been black? The body cam malfunctions.

I didn't observe any threatening behavior from them. No raised voices, no refusal to comply with reasonable requests.  Nothing.  Everything was chill from start to finish.  Polite idiots.   Frat house, so the school knows who and where they are.  In fact, if records are coming back positive for covid from the one kid's ID it was most likely a campus officer and he was calling it in to the school not the PD.

The cop also approached them very respectfully. People generally respond to the way they are approached.

Thoughts on teachers violating social distancing protocol?

On my social media today, I saw...

One in a tightly packed group at a bar watching football yesterday.

One at a church this morning with a lot of people there (masked, but still there)

Another (who some may know here through our fantasy league) at an NFL game.

How can they, in good conscience, go in person to teach a class tomorrow?
