Gosar is the one who, during a hearing, said because he's a dentist he could read body language

Ha ha ha, that's funny.  Q:  What do you call a guy who couldn't get into med school?  A:  A dentist.

The idiot in chief doesn't even realize that it won't help the economy when people are dropping like they are in Italy. He's literally willing to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of lives for a stock market fantasy that he thinks will help him in the election.

Remember when we admonished for hoping he had the virus? The plain folk are rebuked for meaningless thoughts, the powerful can take actions that affect millions and are protected from any pushback by their enablers.

You have to remember, Trump is a pathological liar. He's saying that today because he wants the stock market to stabilize.  In two days, he'll claim he never said that. And all his supporters will eat it up.

I don't know, they look pretty socially distant to me. Is this substantially different from taking a walk?

and he is such a fool that he doesn't see that this is exactly the kind of statement/action/proposal that spooks that markets all the more.

Investors know that climbing death tolls and public fear and panic will prevent the economy from coming back regardless. If Trump knew anything about leadership or had any kind of functioning integrated personality, it would be obvious to say 'we are planning for how we are going  to get as many people back to work as soon as we can as safely as we can -without increasing the risks to society" and it would be fine. It would be what they should be doing.

But betraying himself as again - basically a sociopath more interested in stock market returns than people's lives, willing to take actions disregarding the public health and as likely to lead to blood in the streets as economic recovery, he is doing nothing but further hurting economic prospects.

Fear is more contagious than any virus. People acting like this is 1350 is the damn problem.

This is quite a coincidence, earlier this morning I was wondering if there was anybody out there who still believed that this is no big deal.

yeah - especially if the sun is out. I can't quote you the exact half life of a virus particle in bright sunshine but it's not very long.

well, here we go:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1280232/

(the summaries in terms of simple time are near the end)

Half life probably around an 1 hr. Not as fast as I would have thought, but the Sun is still your friend.

Once again, Andrew Cuomo is live on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, as he is every time he talks. Is this guy the governor of the United States now? He must be, because I don't see the other 49 governors on national TV every time they talk. Or is it because since the media companies are located in New York, what happens in New York must be by definition what happens in the entire nation?

I can confirm that there is. The wife was trying to convince her mother that no, this is not the flu. Yes, many people die of the flu each year, but there are not typically military trucks to take the corpses of those who have died from the flu out of hospitals that have run out of space in the morgue.

When this is all over, can we shave the heads of the people who jacked up the price of medical masks to $7.00?  And put them in the stocks in the village green?

Whoa, hold on.  Some of us are need of a haircut and might resort to getting clippers out and shaving down to the bone whilst waiting for the next visit for a professional to take care of it.  Don't want innocent confusion.

I glad you care enough about my post long enough to take a break from hoarding toilet paper to respond to them.

I understand that, but does really warrant having his full press conference on every national news network every day? His actions affect New York state, not Michigan or Illinois or wherever else people here live.

I grant that it's a pointless rant and it's going to happen anyway because the media are New Yorkers and they have an overinflated sense of the rest of the country's concern for their state, but the provincialism is really obvious and annoying to many of us out here in Not New York.

I said Home Alone, not Home Alone 2. You also posted a gif of you getting smashed in the face. Nice.

I just assume what he says probably currently, or will soon, apply elsewhere.  He's having a press conference and it's easy for the networks to cover because they are there.  Is the governor of WA having them?

I like it because he's reassuring.  He's not sugar coating anything but I don't freak out either.

If this happened in 2019 he'd have been the immediate front runner for POTUS.

Heck, Joe may step aside and hand it over.
