Steve Staggs.  Bad at baseball, but stellar in the Iditarod.

Also won many Wade Boggs lookalike contests.

I prefer to think that Wade Boggs won a lot of Steve Staggs lookalike contests.

He was a ballplayer, not a weightlifter.

I probably bought 200 packs of '78 topps and completed the set and for the life of me don't remember Steve Staggs.

He didn’t have any fat on his body but managed to develop a potbelly by age 14 anyway. His first MLB hit was a HR off Doyle Alexander. According to baseball-reference he was drafted in both the second and the third round of the secondary phase of the draft in 1971.

Looks like it's raining in Dunedin now. Might have gotten this one in at Lakeland - rain seems to all be north of there.

Imagine you are Steve Staggs.  You are almost 70.  You have grandkids.  Everyone in the family knows you played in the big leagues.  During a family dinner they talk about it and decide to google the name to see if anyone remembers.

They land here and I made a joke about him.  I want to be better than that.

You are a bad influence. I mocked him too.

This game is probably toast according to Jim. When the tarp goes on in a spring game in Florida and it’s going to rain for a while it pretty much never comes off until the next day.

It’s a shame this potential win was not recorded in the Grapefruit League standings and that this leg of Gardenhire’s march to the sea and his sacking of Dunedin was for naught.

Mother Nature is the only thing that can stop these Tigers, that and the cheating Astros.

We compared him to a hall of fame player.  I thought we did him well.

They did around here.  Sure wish I'd have replaced the snowthrower pull cord.

I found a guy with that name on twitter and his 2nd most recent post, from May of last year, is about a guitarist I like, Samantha Fish.  That's kind of cool.  And check her out.
