Welcome to another year where we will grit our way through it so when they are all good we can say "I was there when they stunk this means more to me."

For this year's game threads we will take a trip and visit all 50 states and a few countries to learn their baseball history. It will work better in the regular season when we do a state per series, but we'll get through the spring together. Each trip will include random facts, ties to the Detroit Tigers, ties to our current opponent and more.

Thank you Keepleyland2.

The groundhog is overrated.  @Keepleyland2's spring training game threads are the sure sign that spring is approaching.

Smart strategy by Southeastern to give their players some confidence and good vibes by starting the season off with a cupcake team.

I wonder if some of those college kids may be older than some of the Tiger kittens? This may be an unfair matchup. Isn't there a little league team we could practice winning against? Oh, they must still be in school. Maybe we could meet them at the playground at recess?

I still consider '72 to be one of the best in my lifetime.

Of course, nothing matches the joy of '68 or '84 ..but '72 was fun too.

According to math, that's when I was conceived, so I don't have fond memories of that year, but it was pretty pivotal for me.

I was young enough that '73 was Magic to me, even in losses. Went to my first game. Listened to Ernie on my transistor. Ran around the block after many home runs (pre ritalin era). Began to worship #6

The Fire are coming in hot.  11-1, and they've scored 10+ runs in 7 games and allowed 2 or fewer runs in 8 games.

Just a reminder that you can watch live video of the game online tomorrow at https://team1sports.com/southeasternfire.  The stream was password protected last year but they were giving it away to Tigers fans if you DM @SEUFireBaseball on Twitter.

I should have liked 1972, but what I remember most is the strike.  Learning that baseball was a business at age 9 was like a loss of innocence.

Well, I don't really remember much about 1973 either.
