Who is your all-time favourite White Sox player?  Mine is Dick Allen.

Adam Dunn. He seemed to be the perfect representation of WhiteSox baseball....

The rivalry with the White Sox in 2006 and after was pretty fun I think.... I remember seeing due up "Konerko/Dye/Thome" on the scoreboard and thining "Uh oh, this is not good".  And they had Joe ******* Crede.

Dye had an odd up and down career. I was surprised to look up and see he was 35 when he hung 'em up, I thought he was still much younger.

I guess for me it would be Bo Jackson, though I really think of him as a member of the Royals.  This allows me to avoid all the despicable characters already mentioned in this thread

It’s pretty interesting to me that the tigers had good races with all of the AL central teams during their decade of good baseball.

2006 had the White Sox early in the year and then the twins late in the year.

2007 and Cleveland

2008 was bad

2009 with the twins

2010 was bad

2011 was a cakewalk

2012 with the white sox

2013 with Cleveland

2014 with the royals

2015 was bad

2016 with Cleveland and the terrible head to head record

It might be unpopular here but favorite Sox is Frank Thomas

He had a tOPS+ of 94 against the Tigers.  Seems like there should'of been a 1 in front of that 94.

Allen had a lifetime 156 OPS+.  That is higher than Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera and he's not in the Hall of Fame and nobody ever mentions him.  I have read that he might be up for a vote this year though.

There was a time, back when Kaline and Aaron were on the Veterans Committee, that Al Oliver got more votes than Dick Allen did.  I'd love to have heard Kaline explain that one.  It will always have something to do with "he quit on his team" which is a pretty simplistic view.  Dick also had some drinking issues - oh, hi there Mick.

I remember when we had the makeup game with the Sox in 2008 because they ended up in a tight race with the Twins.  The game was required because they needed to determine if they'd play in a one game playoff, which they did, and then won that game. There was a Twins fan who used to post on the Sox MB who thought the league cheated by "Letting the sox play one more game in order to tie the Twins".  He wasn't trolling, he just couldn't understand that the season is 162 games.

Although I think the Red Sox got hosed in 1972 when they finished a half game behind the Tigers.

Phillies fans are confident he will get in next year. Growing up I just remember him as a guy who clashed with everyone, and moving from team to team as a result. What I didn't know then was the abuse he took in Philadelphia as the first black Phillie. Ridiculous stuff. He wore a batting helmet in the field, and the media and fans gave him grief for it. The reason he wore it, supposedly, was to protect him from all the crap fans in Philadelphia threw at him during games.

How can you not love this guy?

The first guy you knew with a personal computer, the guy who finally fixed that weird engine knock in your '83 Tercel, and the best player on your company's softball team.
