The 2020 Presidential Race

Between their comments about not going to Texas because "it's not competitive" and this, I'm honestly amazed at how complacent the Trump campaign's attitude is....

States are red until they aren't. Biden has more cash than he can spend so I say dump it in Texas. The polls for months have shown a close race and here we are 9 days out and polls still show a close lead with Biden actually leading.

I know it's not much of a concern for national observers, but the Texas House is a big prize at stake here too, regardless of whether Biden wins or loses.... I don't think the visit would be happening if they didn't think they had a shot, but I'm sure it's as much about boosting chances in those races. Particularly seeing where they are going (ie. Fort Worth, which has a boatload of competitive House races)

Trump has accomplished 2 things in this election.   Getting people off of their *** to vote (mostly against him) and guaranteeing that no matter the outcome,  there will be some sort of violence directed towards people who win - no matter who wins.    Helluva legacy.

Do you really think left-wing militias will seek out and commit violence against Trump voters?

Or am I misunderstanding what you're trying to say?

I'm not sure those are impressive numbers given the massive turnout we've seen from likely Biden voters.

This. Thinking back to 16, the polls showed a pretty competitive race. Whether those polls were taken seriously is debatable. But the Trump campaign had a message in the last week or so; they gave voters who hated Clinton something to listen to and when combined with Comey's 11th hour bull**** it resulted in just enough where it mattered.

Four years later they just seem altogether tone deaf. The polls show a less competitive race and instead of trying to bring in new voters they are sitting there plugging their ears, giving a "this is fine" meme message, and riling up the people who would have voted for him even if he had literally shot someone on 5th Avenue. There is absolutely no message, it's just vote Trump because TRUMP. That works for 40% of the voting population. 40% won't win you the election.

Saw my first neighborhood Trump/Pence yard sign yesterday.  Very oddly, it is in the yard of a black family.  I recognize the people enough to wave at them if they are outdoors when walking the dog, but have never had an extended enough conversation to know that much about them.   Very curious.

I still don't believe black people in general like Trump.

I don’t either.  At least none among my friends.  That is why this sign was so unexpected.

I worry more about the moves he will make / actions he will take if he fails to win re-election.

If he loses I can see the civil service just freezing out their political bosses. Biden could offer blanket rehire to anyone who they fire. And who is going to answer their call if they want to evict someone they 'fire' from their offices?

It's not like there is going to be any kind of transition. Trump is just going to walk away and leave whatever is behind behind,  just like he has each other time he's been found bankrupt.

OK - maybe DOD will transition. Every other dept will need to be fire-hosed and char serviced.

Just take the $6.2 mil and the visit.

At the end of the day, the Biden camp has to win a national election, and there are still states ahead of Texas on that front

I think he would stop at nothing to protect himself from further investigations - particularly those pesky New York prosecutors who will be counting down the days to January 20.

Another longshot is he suddenly starts to butter Joe up tremendously and bigly so that he won’t be too mean go Donald after.

not to mix up things with the covid thread but meadows respnse today suggests they already know the score and are just giving up on that. Not their problem anymore. Let Joe handle it. Just let things play out until late January.  They have leaky faucets so they have moved furniture and are using buckets but they are not going to tear into the walls because... they don’t have to. Let the new owner worry about that. House is already sold.

I expect him to do something similar to what the Clinton's did on their way out of the White House. In the case of the Clinton's, they physically ransacked the place during the transition. I also expect there to be a series of sketchy pardons on the way out like Bill Clinton had with Marc Rich, Susan McDougal, etc.

Trump can do NOTHING to protect himself against State Prosecutions.

Pardons for Federal only.

And New York is pissed at how he ****** them over on taxes. Tax Fraud charges coming soon, to a Trump Theatre near you...

So, it looks like the Trafalgar poll is messed up.

The MOE on crosstabs are bigger than the top line results.

But those crosstabs are off the charts crazy. Setting aside the party breakdown, the racial demos are way off reality too.

Starting to understand why they don't release much supporting data with their polls
