The 2020 Presidential Race

This raises a significant related question: What does Fox/Murdoch do if the GOP gets it head handed to it in Nov? Do they decide the ratings are just as good continue to drive the GOP further into obscurity or jump on board an effort to create a new conservatism in the hope of getting on the right side of a future electoral winning coalition?  Sadly, the money is probably on the former, which pretty certainly is what is going to drive the decision.  So I won't be surprised at all to see a Carlson run.

That is a good question, I agree that either is within the range of possibilities, and I also agree that the former is more likely because it is far more exciting programming than Bill Buckley-like panels. Fire breathers draw viewers.

I think Tucker might run on the pure fame platform Trump has established.

Trump will get a show on Fox where he can air all of his grievances.

I don’t think a single show on Fox Views will be big enough for Trump.

I think it’s more likely the Overthrow America Now Network completely rebrands itself as the Trump News Network. They’ll start using TNN since the Nashville Network is no longer a thing anymore, and the letters still have resonance with the most recalcitrant Confederate apologists that make up the reddest of hats.

I can't imagine walking into a church and voting for Trump. I would be afraid I would spontaneously combust or something.

1 hour 45 minutes in total to vote.  we walked out into bright sunshine with seagulls cawing.  we took that as an omen.

Getting "electors" to vote for whomever they want, regardless of the result on December 14th.   This is not illegal, by the way and Trump has said he'd be willing to do it - and then the Supreme Court (3 nominated by Trump) go along with it.   Do I think Trump's 3 would do it? -  Absolutely and I am 100% sure he asked that question to them and nominated them when they said yes.   So that means you put the fate of the country in the hands of Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito - who seemingly have no souls.

If the Democrats take both houses and the Presidency, its time to eliminate the Electoral College.

I think this is not unlikely at all. Usurpation of Electoral College norms, followed by an upholding of the stolen elector votes by his handpicked Court, is probably his most certain way he can maintain the office.

And if that happens, that’s when the **** really hits the fan, because people are not going to just shrug and accept it and bury themselves in Netflix marathons for the next four years. People are going to take to the street by hundreds of thousand all over the country, even in the dead of winter. And since Trump wouldn’t have to worry about appeasing voters anymore, it’s anyone’s guess as to how he would confront them.

https://bongino.com/president-trumps-florida-rally-16-of-attendees-were-democrats-24-didnt-vote-in-2016

Quote

These sort of statistics have been kept for a number of rallies held earlier in the year. Here’s the data for a sampling of rallies that occurred in January and February:

And in 2019 the data was the following for a handful of rallies:

  • Battle Creek, Michigan: 15% didn’t vote in last four elections, 27% were Democrats.
  • Broward, Florida: 19% voted once or not at all in past four elections, 24% were Democrats.
  • Dallas, Texas: 12% didn’t vote in past four elections, 21.4% were Democrats.

Is data like this from rally attendees completely useless and almost anecdotal information?

Got into a dust up with someone on Facebook because I said if they still support Trump (and they do) that they are either ignorant or a racist and they really couldn't come up with a single legitimate reason other than something to do with racist stereotypes of China and Mexico.    I'm not tolerating this from anyone anymore and I am losing plenty of friends over this,  but do I really want friends that think like that?   Don't need them in my life.

Their nefarious plan is working.

they discussed this on one of the pods this morning.  Florida polls show a small amount of Clinton to Trump sliders and a huge number of Trump Biden sliders.

hmmm...sliders.  hungry

I want to know the reason a 2016 Clinton voter becomes a 2020 Trump voter. It seems practically impossible.

I mean, the source of that information is Ronna McDaniel, and with lines like this "Can you imagine a single Republican attending a Biden rally? Aside from the confederacy of dunces over at the Lincoln Project, it’s hard to imagine," how can you not believe that data?

I also looked at the source of data for Ohio and that was Brad Parscale, the same Brad Parscale who said 1 million people signed up for Trump's rally in Tulsa.

I know of one. Ironically, she seems like your typical Trumper. She hates commercials that feature whites and blacks together because they are diluting the race. Went so far as to say she wouldn't want Oprah living in her neighborhood. One striking difference between her and Trumpers is that she doesn't watch Fox News and does not do social media. She cannot understand how anybody is fooled by this man. It goes to show the propaganda bubble is strong.

I guarantee that Oprah would never live in your lady’s neighborhood, so she’s got nothing to worry about.

My cousin Nick is from the Atlanta metro area and lived in California in 2016 while working in Mountain View for Google. During Covid Google let him go back to his condo in downtown Atlanta to live and work. While in California he voted for Jill Stein in 2016 because he felt he had no obligation to vote for Hillary. Now that he's back home in the Atlanta metro area he has committed to voting for Biden. He hated Trump then and hates him now and sorta regrets voting for Stein because he can't fully say he voted against Trump both times.

Like him, I was on the Stein wagon until a few weeks before the election. Unlike him, due to social pressure from family and friends, living in a swing state, the Supreme Court, and wanting to be on the right side of history, I voted for Hillary in the end. I am thankful I did what I did and voted for Hillary in the end, if for nothing else, my name will go down in the history books as being a vote for Clinton.

It occurred to me the other day that if Hillary had been elected president, we would have six justices on the Supreme Court right now.

Only Trumpers are dumb enough to try to prove voter fraud in a state that is literally irrelevant.

That’s true for the presidential election, but there are contested downballot reasons in California, too.

Maybe next year you will see first-run footage of police, National Guard and militias firing on protestors in Dallas on the new TNN.

Haven’t you heard? Trump was chosen by Jesus. Or at least some variation thereof.

i want to know if any of the useful idiots who voted for gary johnson or jill stein going to vote for biden this time?

Idiot here.  I do not regret my vote for Johnson.  While not a perfect candidate, he was and remains preferable to me to the two candidates running in 2016 police wise and ethics wise.  And if it was another Clinton v Trump match up this year, I would be writing in Romney, even knowing what I know now.

I plan, with severe reservations primarily because of their refusal to disavow court packing, to vote for Biden/Harris.  But for this same reason, among others, I will be voting for Cornyn again.    Things do not go well in our country when one party holds the Executive Office plus both Senate and House; we need at least one to serve as a check on the others.
