I think the first 100 days of a Biden administration with dems in control of both houses will be a time of cleansing.

Starting with:

Killing the filibuster.

And adding (4) Supreme Court seats. Immediately.

I saw this in my morning feed.  This probably means Trump won't have to attack Iran or Chyna to have his October surprise.

PS: One more additional Federal Judge comment:

I would also start immediate impeachment proceedings for all of McConnell/ Trump's judges that were deemed "UNQUALIFIED".

Remove them from the courts. Political appointees to a Federal court is outrageous to me. I believe they (T & M) pushed through a dozen "unqualified"? Two dozen? I lost track...

Convenient that you think it principled that maintaining your standard now is more important than righting a wrong regarding the very same standard.

A second wrong rights a wrong?  Okay.  Whatever.

That is the last straw for me.  A politician that isn't genuine?  How dare he.

Right, they are all phonies.  You don't need to convince me.  But his schtick is that he's not a politician and that he tells it like it is and many fall for it.

He's edging closer to killing the press.  That is one of my red lines

I wonder if any reporters has looked at the license plats of the Trump supporters blocking the voters at FFX County government center to see if they were "outside agitators"

Seems like law enforcement should be running those plates.

I’m kind of in the same spot as Melody.  My argument has always been presidents serve 4 year terms. Not 3. Not 3 1/2.  Mitch should have had hearings and a vote for Garland if he cleared judiciary.  My argument against him doing it now isn’t because it’s wrong to do that but that he is a hypocrite.   But I did see some tweets by Schumer too from 2016 that he might wish he could walk back.

that said... senators are under no obligation to confirm.  If they think they should wait that’s their right as a person empowered with the vote. But Mitch shouldn’t be the one who decides it all.

What are they protesting?

The "protesters" were only there for an hour. Security broke them up.

We probably mostly agree on this, but my point is that this above is pretty crucial context... I don't know that it is reasonable to expect folks to just focus on the balls and strikes of whether it is right or wrong while blowing off the hypocrisy of the guy currently doing the "right" thing who did the wrong thing in 2016 out of political expedience.

It's just really a disingenuous argument to me

The story of Trump supporters trying to sweep back the tide with brooms is a good one.

Are you sure about that?

In any given Maine poll, there's about a 10 point gap between her and the President. There's far more of those moderates and independents in that 10% than there are Rs.

She has room to fall there... I think she's done either way

Yes, I'm sure she is not going to lose all the Democrats who wouldn't vote for her anyway, because they are not voting for her anyway, so there's no votes for her to lose on this. I was going for creative turn of phrase on this one.

That said, are you implying Collins will lose Democratic party voters if she supports railroading Mitch's nominee through? Are there a lot of Democratic Party voters who would vote for Collins over Gideon? I would think that number is negligible, if not actually zero. So I don't envision her losing any Democratic voters because of that. They're already lost, are they not?

that assumes there you can win a majority in Maine on the right side. Recent voting argues that much like the country that support caps somewhere around 40%

It might be a long shot, but is there any other possible way? I assume she's not in the race for academic purposes, being resigned to lose no matter what, so if there's any way she can imagine getting a W, unabashedly going after the full tilt boogie red hat vote might be her only ticket.

That number is not negligible, at least based on public polling; both Quinnipiac and NYT/Siena have released polls showing her out running Trump anywhere from 7-10 points. That difference are moderate and independents, perhaps with a few Dems mixed in.

My point kinda goes back to the volley buddha and Biggs and I had last night; she is in a tough spot. She needs the base (the red hats, as you call them) in the north too, but there aren't enough of them to get her past 45% of the vote. So she still has to appeal to moderates and indies in Southern Maine as well, many of whom were (if the Siena polling is to be believed) not fans of her moves during Kavanaugh, or else she won't get across the finish line.

Hence her statement today... she needs to assuage the moderates she still holds onto if she has a chance
