I can't believe this is real. Donald Trump actually sounded presidential and not cringe-worthy.

That might be most Presidential I've ever seen Trump.

And won twice.

There is a large constituency in Maine that supports that point of view.  When you combine that with natural, "pro business" and conservative Republicans, you get Maine.  It's the reason why Trump wins a lot of states that have natural moderate tendencies but also have large swaths of working class voters who flocked to Trump.

LePage never won a majority of the vote and Maine changed their voting system to ranked choice so someone like couldn't win again.

A lot of things have to fall Trump's way for him to win.  This is not one of them.

Agreed.

Don't worry.  He'll say something really dumb about the situation before the weekend is over.

Don't know.

But if Republicans think they're going to lose the Presidency and have a 50/50 shot of losing the Senate, then maybe they just push through the replacement now and make sure they control the court for the next 20 years regardless of who is President?

So... if Mark Kelly wins, because it's a special election, he takes over November 30.

Wrong Republicans are doing the picking.

How?  Who would the "right" Republicans pick?

I hate to tell you this, but no matter what Republican was in charge, they would have picked Gorsuch and Kavanaugh and likely would pick whomever Trump will pick to replace Ginsburg.

You can hate to tell me.  But, I'm not allowing Donald Trump and his band of crooks to pick what being a Republican is

I don't really hate to tell you.

I don't understand how a Republican does not like Gorsuch and Kavanaugh as Supreme Court picks.  Those two were at the top of the line for a decade.  I get it that you don't like Trump, but he picked two very traditional Republican justice nominees who are upholding traditional Republican ideals in the Courts.

If anything, Gorsuch has been too LIBERAL for Republicans.  So I'm not sure what you're on about with this "he can't pick for me" stuff.  Who did you want him to nominate?  Merrick Garland?

McConnell released a statement tonight saying they will have a Senate vote on a nominee before November.

Which should come as a surprise to absolutely no one.

I can't believe how a minority party ended up with so much power in this country.

If he wins in November the same way he won in 2016 it's going to cause a revolution.

Garland was approved by Orrin Hatch until Obama picked him.

He's right... but they aren't gonna listen

Cause Mitch knows they're going to lose in November so they better make the change right now.

They aren't going to pass up on a 6-3 advantage in the court.

That is such a huge, long lasting advantage and fits right into the playbook.  Shoot, it would almost be political malpractice not to pursue it.

How many people claim to have voted for Trump to shape the court?

And Mitch won't be losing in Kentucky.
