The base of the Democratic party in that state is overwhelmingly African-American. Why not follow the same template as South Carolina and run an African-American candidate who is better suited to drive up turnout among the voter base. Furthermore, Amy McGrath had a chance, in a lean-R/toss up district to win, in a year which there was a blue tsunami on Congress, and she still came up short to Andy Barr.

south carolina is 30% black

kentucky is 7% black

not sure how driving up turnout will effect this election.  mcconnell will likely win in a landslide.

as for the horror of having a democrat vote for kavanaugh, i think the democrats should be a big enough tent to encompass people who disagree.

FWIW, the relative strength that Booker has with  prominent conservative Dems in the eastern coal fields tells me that the usual CW in the McGrath/Booker (ie. Moderate candidate more electable than progressive one) race tells may be less applicable.

It doesn't matter tho, as McConnell will win regardless

Huh.

"there have not been many attacks on us" is not the same as "there have not been any attacks on us"

Have there been attacks on US Soldiers?

I guess they figured out that the dementia angle was a terrible way to appeal with seniors in Florida and Ohio...

Jon Stewart was on Axelrods podcast.  He said the Tulsa rally shows that Trump only has one song and 4 years later during all this he’s still singing it.  The analogy was andrew Dice Clay going on stage at MSG tomorrow and doing “hickory dickory dock...”

people are done with that.

Hickory, dickory, dock

Three mice ran up a clock

The clock struck one

And the other two escaped with minor injuries.

You mean that one?  😉😄

I used to love the Blue Collar Comedy Tour. I saw them all, Ron White, Bill Engvall, Jeff Foxworthy, and Larry the Cable Guy live at the Fox. Then Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy came back to town at the Fox together. I realized that I was watching the same exact set, with the same exact jokes from those guys and it wasn't at all funny. Trump is indeed the same, he doesn't know how to pivot or coalition build or even keep the lose coalition he did build. Just like Larry and Jeff were funny the first time I saw them, Trump was exciting when voters first saw him. The zeal and shine have worn off though and the pony has no tricks left to perform.

If you're going to do the same thing over and over again at least try to be more like Steven Wright.

Nice.

Give him a little push

I would prefer he stay in the race and get clobbered the way I imagined he would in 2016.

And we have all since learned that so many of those were people we've known, loved, and respected for much of our lives. And many of them have gone so very far off the deep end in their vitriolic commentary on social media, and occasionally even in our presence.

The $64 question for each of us is, now that we fully understand the kind of society these people whom we know really want and are actively voting for and rooting for and perhaps even working toward, how do we regard them going forward? Will there some reckoning, somehow? Or do we pretend nothing has happened and move forward in the interest of social and familial detente? That's a personal choice each of us will have to contemplate and decide upon when—if—society returns to some form of pre-trump norms.

i think this is what I would expect.  The DOD guys with force protection obligations are not just going to let something like this hang because the briefers are scared that Trump might not like that its bad stuff about Putin.

I don't buy this "he might drop out" stuff at all.   In fact, I think his supporters are lying to pollsters.
