fascinating to me is the areas my Urban Politics prof called "Machine Space" along the rail nets and the large industrial zone of Dearborn, the riverfront south of the bridge, and Ypsi areas.   To the North East is the vast area of the Selfridge base complex.

Aaaaaand he's back in the fold. Fat lot of good it will do him, though. Unless his goal is to be dead to everyone.

I keep saying, you may be able to get Romney to part with the GOP over ethics questions, but you won't over policy or limitations/prerogatives or general over exercise of gov power. He is a monarchist at heart - Divine rights of white male kings et al.

It's really looking like Tulsi is qualified for the debate on the 15th.  From wikipedia:

Eleventh debate (March 15, 2020)[edit]

CNN, Univision, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus BOLD will host the eleventh debate in Phoenix, Arizona.[45] Five candidates (Steyer, Buttigieg, Klobuchar, Bloomberg, and Warren) suspended their campaigns between the tenth and eleventh debates.[271][272][273][274][275] On March 3, as Super Tuesday results were announced, DNC communications director Xochitl Hinojosa tweeted that the qualification threshold would likely increase, giving the reason that almost 2,000 delegates will have been allocated by the time of the debate.[276] This tweet was sent after Gabbard apparently received a delegate and would qualify for the March debate, per the previous three debates' threshold of one delegate.[277] She has since gained another delegate.[278]

He's not a Never Trumper. He knew Trump was not going to be removed so it was OK to vote for removal. Biden does pose a serious threat to Trump so he reverses course.

Ugh. Biden and Sanders need to go head to head, and not have a 3rd person with no interest or chance at winning muddy things up.

Are they even going to ask Tulsi a question? Don't really care about Tulsi being there. It would break up the two old men yelling at each other.

Hopefully the concern trolling over the disappointed parties in a contested convention will disappear for a while.

I just realized this estimates the metro area to have grown by 15%. That doesn't seem right.

Just looked at a couple of sanity test numbers for comparison. The population of MI as per Google data explorer is virtually unchanged over 10 yrs. Though total employment in MI is up from 4.2 mill to 4.75mil (12% increase).

Google data explorer - which supposedly is reading census data -  also shows Wayne, Oakland, Macomb cnty populations as basically flat over 2010-2017 yrs - slight decline in wayne so I have no idea where the 15% number comes from. I would say it is just wrong.

That number appears to be CSA which would be Ann Arbor and Flint but I don't believe there are significant gains there either. However, it may be adding Windsor in which case the 5.9 million number may be accurate but Windsor obviously is never included in US census.

Apparently he's only in if it's not a public hearing.

Depends if you count the A2 population during the day or at night - we supposedly have 80,000 come into town every day and that number is way up in 10 yrs.

Washtenaw county is estimated up 6% from 2010 to 2017 about 22K people.

It seems like they took the Detroit CSA from 2010 but used the Detroit CSA + Windsor for their 2017 estimate which shows a large increase.

That sound about right - in any case no matter how they mangled it, - there is nothing like a 15% increase in the area's pop.
