The 2020 Presidential Race

Recommended Posts

Republican Canvassers here in Michigan are receiving death threats - some very specific ones - because some Republican reps put their names, info and addresses online.      Thats where we are

The most honest thing Hillary Clinton ever said, she walked back and she never should have because she was so perfectly correct

"BASKET OF DEPLORABLES".

........and it's a big goddamned basket too.

Rubio was easy to spot pretty early on.

I missed it because i needed him to be the center right opposition to Trump and he blew it spectacularly.

Apparently Parler has already been hacked. Potentially good info may be available.

Reading through some of the threads there appears to be skepticism. Who knows. Be nice if it was.

In a similar poll -A UofM football website had a poll on if the spot on the J.T. Barrett play was a bad call and 98% said yes.    So that means Michigan won the National Championship that year, right?

This is a really good and unsparing piece

“I don’t get it,” the president said, venting confusion and frustration. “All these other Republicans, all over the country, they all win their races. And I’m the only guy that loses?”

Umm, somebody want to tell him?

That Tim Alberta piece is really, really good.  I like his introduction:

Quote

After five years spent bullying the Republican Party into submission, President Donald Trump finally met his match in Aaron Van Langevelde.

Who?

That’s right. In the end, it wasn’t a senator or a judge or a general who stood up to the leader of the free world. There was no dramatic, made-for-Hollywood collision of cosmic egos. Rather, the death knell of Trump’s presidency was sounded by a baby-faced lawyer, looking over his glasses on a grainy Zoom feed on a gloomy Monday afternoon, reading from a statement that reflected a courage and moral clarity that has gone AWOL from his party, pleading with the tens of thousands of people watching online to understand that some lines can never be uncrossed.

“We must not attempt to exercise power we simply don’t have,” declared Van Langevelde, a member of Michigan’s board of state canvassers, the ministerial body with sole authority to make official Joe Biden’s victory over Trump. “As John Adams once said, 'We are a government of laws, not men.' This board needs to adhere to that principle here today. This board must do its part to uphold the rule of law and comply with our legal duty to certify this election.”

I was really impressed by that guy.... when the moment came to him he did the right thing.  Initially I took his questioning to provide cover for himself so he could say "I can't do anything" but instead he emphasized that it wasn't his place, we have to follow the law and the process, and he was making sure that everyone watching could see that.

I don’t even care whether Van Langevelde agonized back and forth for days weighing the consequences of either decision on his political future, rather than reflexively doing the right thing immediately in defense of democracy and out of love of country. I care only that he did the right thing in the end.

We never needed Trump to concede. We needed him to cave. We got what we want.

Also, a hearty **** you to Norman Shinkle for putting him into that position.

I'm glad he did the right thing, but the fact that it is viewed as heroic is a sign of trouble

According to their website you can get a pre law degree there as well as a criminal justice law and practice degree. Her LinkedIn page show her getting her law degree from the University of Richmond.

One other note about Colorado Colorado Christian, I saw a Lee Strobel Center. I remember him from his days at Willow Creek Church in Chicago. Just my own opinion but he was not my favorite pastor there.

I guess Trump is skipping the trip to the Wyndham (Total Landscaping)

Not that he really had any legitimacy to fight the election results, but ironic how many Covid issues his campaign team has had as they attempt to keep up the 'good' fight.

I am sure I've seen commercials for Colorado Christian on Fox News....

It's one of those degree mills.

Small hands was a timeless burn though.   Too bad that's the best he offered.
