Greene / Boyd Trade Options

Man, how are going to manage to find playing time for Reyes, Jacoby, demeritte, stew, and Cameron next year, especially with Cabrera healthy and hitting well from the DH spot.

Good problem to have, I guess.

I hope (and think) this was a joke cause I get a belly laugh from it.

Y’all who are complaining about this deadline are outta your minds.

2 months of Nick Clubhouse Cancer-ellanos.....and people really thought we’d get top prospects?

Even Shane Greeene, y’all remember he’s only really been “great” for about a year? I think in two years when Nick is hitting .235 with 12 homers and Shane is out of a job we’ll realize what really happened today.

Who's complaining?

Both deals were fine.

its always impossible for us to tell about these things because we dont know what else was offered, but both deals seems fine to me.  especially the nick deal.  then again, the cubs always overpay.

Kinda surprised Wentz went from 7 in the Braves system to 10 in ours since they have such a highly regarded system.

Yeah. How can that be?

Some of that is residual. They had some promotions and then got hit with the penalties. But people still rave about their system. The depth though, doesnt exist. After about 10 it's a bunch of deathrages

It's the Al Avila magic, he's already tanked Wentz as a prospect.

TallBaby is the tigers’ greatest July acquisition in years.

I wasn't even a top 5 prospect in the Braves system.

Crestfallen.

I had high hopes for today.   Now I feel like we are at the beginning of a long stretch of futility that may rival the pre-2006 years.   And unless Chris sells the team, I don't think anyone is buying our way out of it this time.

Why can't this organization develop position players?

We’ll get them via free agency.  Don’t worry about it.

I think that is the plan, but it's easier said than done.

They usually do, but they didn’t this time. It was about what we could have expected. Probably neither will make the majors, but then, the likely alternative was Nick walked, anyway.

spent the day on the road and missed all the drama, but in the end it sounds like there is nothing to get too excited about in any direction. TBH, surprised they got anything for Nick. If he makes it through the off-season - Boyd will likely still have good trade value at  next year's deadline if a couple of the young aces are making it look like they might end up with pitching to deal.

It's going to be the type of Free Agents that Randy Smith used to sign.

You must have them all blocked. Numerous responders in this thread are dejected, which is ludicrous.

Absolutely, completely, respectfully disagree. Why are you crestfallen? Nick was gone end of year anyway and Shane wasn’t gonna be around when we’re good again.

Also, in case you didn’t notice, we kept Matt Boyd. Provided he’s not traded over the summer the rotation next year could actually get this team to .500.

You need better medication.     This team will be nowhere near .500 for several years.   You think that all of  our pitching prospects are all going to make it and they are all going to be positive impact players?   That never happens.  Won't happen here.  Some will fizzle out, some will end up in the pen, some will get hurt.   If 2 of them work out it would be great.     Oh, and where are the runs going to come from next year.  Jake Robson?   Daz Cameron?  Willi Castro?

I guess the bright side to today is we don't have to watch the Tigers screw up Kyle Tucker or Carter Kieboom or any other REAL position prospect.

Drew Waters. Was I simply hoping for too much?

For Greene, yeah...

Boyd should fetch someone on his level... Maybe off-season or next year's trade deadline...

Lange is terrible, Richan is a lottery ticket - about right for 2 months of Nick.

They both look like #7/ #8 starters for the Tigers, to me. AAAA guys that get stuck at Toledo for the most part, but get called up for spot starts or injury starts or some long relief help as needed...

Nothing special... but still useful.

Lots of very self assured statements in here, from someone that I’m sure saw 2006 coming from miles away.

The one trade that has me scratching my head until it bleeds is the Jesus deal going to the Marlins for two bad pitchers.  ****, we have two bad pitchers, Jesus would have looked nice.  Miami has done well, but I think the DBacks improved their club the most.
