Coleman hung around the game longer than I realized. After the 1994 strike I kind of tuned MLB out for a while.

I got Coleman to autograph a baseball for me when the Cardinals were in Atlanta many moons ago. He and Willie McGee were in a lineup that was built on speed. Miss those days.

Seems just a bit unbalanced.

Does anyone remember Coleman's hit with the Tigers?

He ran into one and had a day.

I just hope that Greene and Quintana show up in time to suit up and get in the lineup.

Even if they don't, and despite my natural tendency toward pessimism, I am fairly confident that the Tigers will not go 0-9 on this homestand.

I wonder if all 30 Castros in the system just draw straws to see which Castro is the one to get called up?

6Hopper has turned optimist, he must be on the Jake/Greiner/Dixon are real and they're spectacular bandwagon.

Regarding my anticipation of a better-than-0-9 homestand,  call it cautious optimism.  I don't want to get carried away.

Hey, the Tigers' top four home run hitters now have more combined homers than Christian Yelich.  Take that, Mr. MVP!

Four specialists reviewed MRI on Cabrera’s right knee. Surgery was discussed, but recommendation was treat symptoms as they come. He’ll be DHing for foreseeable future.

Miguel Cabrera diagnosed with “chronic changes to his knee” as the result of a long career, according to Tigers head athletic trainer Doug Teter.

Josh Harrison will have surgery to repair hamstring. Six to eight weeks recovery time

Jordy Mercer’s rehab still on hold. He’s back doing treatment here

Cabrera should have seen very little time at 1B, all things considered. This is a self induced problem for the team. And yes, this one is on Gardenhire in my opinion.

“The only advice I can say to young kids is take care of their body when they have to," Miguel Cabrera said. "When they have something, stop playing for a week and come back. Don’t play through pain, because you’re going to pay the price later.”

Miggy is the $30,000,000 man.  They should give him bionic knees and elbows and a bionic core.  He’ll set off every metal detector everywhere. Hopefully they can sneak him into a ball park.

"Chronic changes to the knee" sounds like an 1860s diagnosis.

I'm sorry but I frankly doubt the biggest part of Miguel's problems stem from trying to play through his injuries.

Jeez. I guess it isn't surprising, but maybe it should be, that so many of these guys take no responsibility for themselves.

I've defended the idea that Cabrera still probably has more talent left than most people are giving him credit for, and the knee issue just confirms the supposition that he has still been trying to hit hurt, but even I am tiring of this guy's act. Time for him to just go away.

It sounds like Cabrera has the same problem with his knees that all of us old guys have.   His cartilage is worn out.
